This has got to be the most political pope since like the middle ages when the pope basically ran countries. I’ve never heard a pope make strong public statements on specific political policies. Very strange.

Not if the state legislature changed the states voting laws to allow mail in voting. The issue in this case is that the state legislatures made laws to allow mail in voting long ago, but a couple months before the election these states governors made executive orders changing voting laws to allow mail in votes to be accepted past Election Day, accepted if the signature doesn’t match, and allow no excuse mail in voting. None of that was made voting law by the legislatures so it was not legal. The election was carried out using these illegal voting rules that were not passed by the legislature therefore the elections did not follow the constitution.
I don’t think SCOTUS will throw out mail in votes, they would just declare that those states elections were unconstitutional and for the state legislatures to figure it out.
Georgia is doing the same thing. If WI or MI get on board as well that would guarantee that enough state legislations intend to vote Trump with a positive SCOTUS ruling.
She should be disbarred and charged with malicious prosecution.
I’m sure the state legislatures want cover to do that. If scotus rules in Trump’s favor on anything in the lawsuit that should be enough cover for them to say the way the state government handled the election was unconstitutional so they are picking electors themselves.
I’d say amendments for term limits, 9 scotus judges, and limiting intelligence agencies power would be nice to add. Plus, times change. Someday we might want to limit the government in other ways.
I don’t mind it being referred to as a living document, if by that they mean it can be amended. If they mean it’s a living document that changes without being amended and actually changed then that is clearly insane.
So SCOTUS already ruled this, these states ignored the ruling and did it their own way specifically going against the SCOTUS ruling, and are now saying SCOTUS can’t overturn it now because it’s already done and it would be a big mess.
It honestly doesn’t even seem possible that SCOTUS could not side with Trump on this. This must have been why so many close to Trump have been so confident Trump will win. They’ve known this was coming all along and knew it was already ruled in their favor a few months ago. Holy shit.

Gorsuch definitely will side with Trump. Looking at his prior ruling to declare almost the entirety of Oklahoma as belonging to an Indian reservation he seems to be a very strict constitutionalist no matter what. I’m most worried about kavanaugh and ACB, don’t know what they’ll do.

I wouldn’t say “never.” Right now, no. Soon, yes. Within 5 years China is going to take over as the largest economy in the world. In the 2030s China will be far and away richer than the US. In the 2040s China will be the undisputed world superpower and at least twice as powerful as the US. At that point we will be like a modern day Germany, France, or UK compared to modern US. China is taking over as the world’s shot caller and it’s happening fast. For the first time in hundreds of years we will re-enter the food chain of countries.
China is way way more powerful than the USSR ever was.
If something isn’t done China is going to surpass the US as the world’s largest economy within the next 5 years. By the 2030’s they will be way larger and by 2040 it will be the undisputed world superpower, possibly two times more powerful than the US and EU combined.

The state legislatures could just say they are not awarding their electoral votes to anyone since their election was unconstitutionally handled. That would send it to house delegates which is a Trump lock.
