I'm sure liberals think we're annoying pricks for challenging them to think critically too.
Just said the same thing. Somethings never change.
Must be ancient greek for acting like a faggot.
The one you claim to play in video games.
Quit being intentionally dense and intellectually dishonest. My guess is that you've never actually read the bible or any religious text probably just a bullet list of bible contradictions passed around by lazy "intellectuals" to justify their reasoning why they don't believe in an invisible angry man in the sky. It's like disregarding the book animal farm because animals don't speak English.
By your video game comment it's clear that your conception of "God" is some invisible puppet master. Maybe the reason why God hasn't "spoken" to you is because of your limited conception of what "God" is. Hence why I asked you what is your conception of God.
I grew up left leaning, atheist, pro-abortion. One day I had a paradigm shift and I found God. The reason why it took me 23 years to find God wasn't because he wasn't reaching out to me, it was because I was too "blind" (limited in my capacity to conceptualize) to see what God is. Quit getting hung up on words and labels. Think in concepts. Get rid of the logical fallacies. You're thinking in terms of false dichotomies, that some how believing in science and mathematics / in God are contradictory. That simply isn't true.
When you view the Bible as a collection of stories describing the human condition / behavioral patterns and not necessarily literal stories the world opens up to you. The Bible is literally the collection of thousands of years of human observation of the natural world / natural laws. Ironically half the problems our planet is dealing with today are discussed in the Bible because your ancestors dealt with the same bullshit.
The problem with your line of logic regarding the solution is that you won't see a drop in abortions, you would only see a rise in exceptional cases. The amount of false rape allegations would sky rocket. Women would find doctors to deem their offspring as non-viable. They would simply exploit the loopholes.
In a perfect world yes that might be a reasonable solution but there are far too many bad actors.
The whole reason for religion/ morality and having set laws is simply to create a functional framework for society.
Yes we could legalize abortions and make it readily available but once again the law of causality. Now you have an imbalance where one sex can forgo any responsibility / consequences for their poor actions. This in turn breeds (no pun intended) a new social dynamic between the sexes.
There is a reason why our culture and our nation has been on a steady decline since the 60's. There is a reason why we are barreling towards a civil war. There is a reason why women primarily vote Democratic and men conservative. One party votes in their self interest because of innate desire for self preservation and the other votes for higher ideals because of innate drive to be self-sacrificing. There is a reason why Sharia Law exist, it is the ultimate form of the Patriarchy. It was developed out thousands of years of human experience. Order and chaos. Logic vs emotions. Large government vs self reliance.
Between abortions and birth control we've destabilized the very foundation of the human condition and of our nation. We are still dealing with absurdity of that decision to play God. Slippery slope and social innertia are real. We waste money on failed experiments trying to make women effective infantrymen in the marines, meanwhile our enemies don't deal with bullshit like that. So while our enemies plan their attacks, we're having to entertain the idea that there is no biological differences between the sexes and gender is a social construct.
Sorry for the rant. I'm just trying to show that by creating exceptions to the rules, all you do is invite people to exploit the rules. Rigidity can be oppressive but more often than not it exist for a reason. It sucks but it's simply the way human nature functions. Humans tend to have a level of arrogance that we can some how out smart "God" but he always finds a way to put people back in their place and rebalances the equation. All of this progressive thinking will do nothing but destabilize our country until we get wiped out by a more principled nation, namely china.
The same reason why "God" flooded New Orleans. Corrupt government making selfish decisions and morally bankrupt citizens not holding them accountable...
This is insane
I know. I did at one point in my life too before I found God. I had this exact conversation with my younger cousin the other day. Luckily after a couple of hours of debating I think I won him over because I opened his mind enough so he could reconceptualize "God".
Most people embrace a false dichotomy that somehow science and God can't simultaneously exist because they are too intellectually lazy to view God as nothing more than an invisible angry man in the clouds.
Once again your understanding of "God" is too narrow minded. You're implying that I'm asking you to subscribe to an ideology and that simply isn't the case.
"Anyone can explain anything they feel is right with their own religion and God. "
That's the point, you have a personal 1 on 1 relationship with "God". That doesn't mean those individuals are free from the law of causality. Most of the time when people look outside of themselves and see the "big" picture you can begin to see how God or natural laws, whatever you prefer to call operates.
"Some religions say we don’t have free will and everything is fated."
Maybe those religions are right, guess you should just sit on your ass and find out.
Well for starters you're making a false dichotomy about the meaning of Sacred / Life is Sacred.
Life is sacred does not explicity imply preservation.
I used an example about animal life / hunting for a different commenter.
I would consider a deer's life as sacred being a creation of "God". That being said I would have no problem killing said deer to sustain my own life. Doesn't mean I find the deer any less sacred for it is still part of the ecosystem / grand equation and so am I.
I am still trapped by the law of causality, actions have consequences. If I didn't respect the deer's life / didn't few his life as sacred, I could over hunt thus disrupt the balance of the ecosystem and potentially endanger my own chances of survival.
To address your point about righteous killings, yes they are completely subjective. That why as an individual you have to decide what is right and wrong. If I were to kill a man in self-defense does that make it ok? I was simply fighting for self preservation so it must be ok. What if a killed a man to steal his food? I was simply fighting for self preservation so it must be ok. The issue comes back to the nature of causality.
I think of it in a way of game theory. I kill a man in self defense, maybe "God" will be merciful on me, and the man's family won't come looking for retribution because he was looking to harm me. If I robbed the man, God probably won't have mercy on me, and the man's family would definitely come looking for retribution because I "wronged" them. Tit for Tat.
To put my views on God in a perspective you might understand is that I view God as giant equation with near infinite variables that my mind nor any amount of computing power could solve. The reason why I choose to be Christian is because Jesus Christ is kind of like the ghost in the machine. He provides the framework or map to navigate through life independent of the temporal context. While technology and the environment might change, human nature never will.
To bring this full circle this is why I can't condone abortion no matter the consequences. Who am I too determine value and quality of life? Should we kill all blind and deaf people because some how we deem them as less than normal? Are people with DS simply a net negative on human production and consumption? I can't make that decision. Are people only as valuable as their work output? Can you quantify intangible value?
This is all without even getting into the ethics of putting Eugenics policies in place and the possible abuses of said policies.
First off this another false dichotomy.
You're implying that because our criminal justice system is flawed and we accidently kill innocent people that we should some either A) not kill known murders or B) it some how justifies killing innocent children that havent been born yet because they have the potential to be born with birth defects.
If anything you're only arguing my point. Most things men create are flawed because we are flawed, thus determining whether someone should be aborted based on a possibly faulty test is the same as arresting someone for a crime they have yet to commit. This is isn't even beginning to argue the ethics of putting such policy in practice let alone the potential for it's abuse.
Your understanding of God is too narrow minded and you're implying that the creator didn't endow you with free will
What is your conception of God?
Ok...
You are implying a false dichotomy that just because life is Sacred doesn't mean it couldn't / shouldn't be ended.
I guess an example would be animal life being sacred, I would consider a deer's life as sacred being a creation of "God" or however you'd like to view it. That being said I would have no problem killing said deer to sustain my own life. Doesn't mean I find the dear any less sacred for it is still part of the grand equation and so am I.
I didn't say shit, I was just pointing on that what you said was weak.
I agree with the death penalty. I don't agree with the latter simply because of all the cases of children being born defect free despite supposedly being diagnosed with defects in the womb.
It's almost like arresting or murdering someone for crimes they haven't committed.
This is coming from someone that use to be an atheist, left wing pro abortionist. Kind of turned a 180 with my life.
Might sound dumb and naive but I believe we all add to the pool of human consciousness, and every variable of life will be lived. As awful as suffering is, it is simply part of the human condition. You can't really quantify the intangible effects that people with DS have on our society but they do play a role in the grand equation whether we are aware of it or not.
And how dependent are you?
It's just kind of funny because we probably have half a nation that havent self actualized and probably 99% of the population is dependent on the system to sustain their existence.
Not trying to be intentional dense, but this past year and after this election I just became hyper-aware of how much of my own survival is completely based on the reliance of the system.
Pretty weak argument.
Comparing people on murders row to innocent children.
I saw a post under new a couple of nights ago about someone claiming to have filed for the Patriots Party
Human trafficking
I don't even know if you can call them liberals anymore... They are just hypocrites at this point and I fucking hate hypocrites.
We should convince them that Black History Month is actually a product of white supremacy and is racist in nature.
Read the one article talking about the justice department letting 800 protestors off the hook because they were none violent, now this shit.
Just goes to show you, if you have any sort of power they will make an example of you.
Honestly I feel the exact same way when I go on reddit so....
Same with facebook, instagram, twitter, etc.
Its literally nauseating seeing the amount of ignorance spreading like a disease over the internet.
It creates this moral conflict inside me. "Why try to be a shepherd when the sheep invite the wolves to dinner?"
You're definitely special, how much are you getting paid to astroturf .win?
Go back to reddit, faggot.
And make their eyes slant too.
