I would go a step further from your statement on 85%-90% of what is being taught is not useful. So much of this basic information gives many students an over inflated sense of just how much they know and creates a weird arrogance that once you get further and deeper into the subjects you realize just how little you know. Some of this very shallow education into things like physics and genetics that students receive in high school seem to me to do more harm than good. I feel like if these topics are going to be taught they need to be given a much higher degree of study.
