By design. Much of the officer corps come from the limousine liberal families. The working class schmuck who enlists and makes his way into leadership positions on merit is the exception, not the rule. It's been an issue for decades. The troops are based, and the guys that tell them what to do have generally never spent a day in their shoes.
Kind of the same issue we're seeing now with cops. Cops on the street are mostly based as well, but look at their power structure. In almost all of the places where the cops have failed us, the orders were coming from some junior swamp creature political appointee.
Trump exposed the stranglehold that literal communists have on our institutions and organizations. We aren't playing by the same rules and we're losing horrifically because of it. It's funny, I remember being taught as a child about the revolutionary war and how the British were hamstrung by their rigid rules of engagement and battle techniques, constantly getting fucked up by rudimentary American guerilla warfare that didn't give a fuck how the British wanted to fight. It was really perplexing to me, how could anyone refuse to adapt like that, when it was literally costing mens lives?
They're so used to everyone rich and/or powerful being corrupt or dirty that they knew they'd find his dirt, and then it wouldn't matter how the investigations began. They found nothing, and now we've moved on to them just claiming victory, and it doesn't matter what took place during the election.

The vast majority of those government employees are unionized with multi-year contracts that spell out salaries and holidays. It's not some at-will deal the gov can just make up as it goes along.

I don't pay enough attention to him to have an opinion, but it's an interesting observation. Influence and power is changing hands, and those with power don't just go away quietly. There are new mockingbird seeds out there right now building networks and followings. Don't be so quick to accept everyone in a red hat, literally and figuratively. And never stop questioning everything.
It's a certainty all the "good" cops are going to bounce, if they haven't already. What will be left is the dunces, who can't get hired anywhere else. The losers will become the de facto leadership and trainers, and ensure the ineffectiveness of the department for the decades to come. Crime will keep skyrocketing, the city will keep failing, and there will be no tax revenues left to fix any of it. That city is already dead, they just don't know it yet.

In my area you know a neighborhood is very white and very wealthy when the streets are covered in BLM/No Home for Hate/Etc lawn signs. It's a lesson you're meant to learn as a child. If there's an institutional problem in this country, it's that children are largely being raised completely insulated from any semblance of personal responsibility and consequence. It's a great disservice to them, because the lessons will be much more severe and painful as an adult.
Keep in mind there's a slim chance her firing is unrelated to her stepson. I don't want to rush to judgement like a certain group does before we have a full set of facts. But if there's no disciplinary record or trail of derogatory information, this sounds like she should take ownership of that company.
There's so much faith in this "they will rebuild it for us" argument. Typically said by people who have never built anything, and have certainly never lived through an economic depression. You're touching on the core issue. There are women that can do the job. Any job. However, it's more common that a woman is under qualified and getting by on a diversity pass. Same thing goes on with minorities as well, and it's a disservice to the entire community. Race and gender shouldn't be a consideration in hiring and performance evaluations, and yet here in 2020, it's essentially the first and most important consideration of the entire hiring process. And of course, if you believe no one should get special status due to skin color or gender, then you are naturally, a racist.
I had a family member indirectly ask me. Not begging or expecting, but posing the question. My family is not anti-gun, but I've been pushing them for years to arm themselves and regularly stressing the importance. I stressed it then because I care about them and their safety. It's a hard no now, because my own family's safety comes first. We're a red flag law state now. There is no chance I'm illegally transferring guns to anybody.
As soon as you call them out on their defund the police bullshit, they immediately start walking it back and start saying they actually mean reduce funding. Quite frankly I hope they get what they want. No one will ever step foot in those liberal shit holes again. Businesses will flee, public services will continue to be cut. Like cities that have burned themselves down previously, they'll spend decades begging people to come back. The suffering will increase locally, but at least the virus will stop spreading.

The spike in gas prices since Biden started cancelling pipelines and coordinating with OPEC has translated into about a 2K/year commuting cost increase for me so far, using today's prices. I have no doubt oil is going much higher. We can debate Trump's accomplishments all day, but cheap oil was one of his priorities and it's something his policies delivered for four years. Now we have an administration with exactly the opposite view. They might not come right out and say it, but they want to punish oil burners and force the middle class into the electric shitmobiles. The public at large will bitch about paying $4 or $5 a gallon at the pumps next summer, but they're literally too stupid to understand how they voted for it. We're going to see regulated price increases for at least 4 years, and probably much longer than that. Cheap oil is dead, plan accordingly.
