I live in a beach community in a very, very blue state. I'm sitting on my front porch, having some coffee. generally minding my own business. A lady comes down the street in her big hat and beach attire (obviously going to the beach).

She says hello, I reply in kind She asks me if I have dogs, I say yes, she says she's seen me walking them. Then, she says you're not pro-Trump are you? Me: That's a strange question Her: It's a simple question yes or no. Me: Well, I'm not anti-trump Her: ok.

And then she proceeds to walk away.

This interaction is very very strange to me. What was this all about? Was she deciding whose house to set on fire? Do I need to get security cameras, like today? I don't generally like to discuss politics with random people because, well, experience from living in a blue state. It's just not worth it to argue politics until you've proven yourself to be something other than low-info.

I'm seriously asking if this is now acceptable in 2020 or if this seems strange to others as well.
