As long as they are replaced with a Sheriff and deputies. Sheriffs have to be elected and answer to the people. A Chief of Police is appointed, and often answers to a politician, like a mayor or city council. Also a Chief of Police is under the thumb of the Police Unions. Don't like the way your county, town or city is being policed, vote in a new Sheriff and have him re-swear or swear in deputies.

I've been thinking about how the people in cities are at odds with rural America and even suburban America to certain degree.

If you think about cities, specifically downtown areas. They don't produce anything, there are banks and offices maybe even restaurants and small shops, but nothing is made there. Everything for everyday life is brought in.

The restaurants ship in produce and meat, the shops ship in products and supplies already made. everything is made elsewhere.

Electricity, water, sewer and refuse, is piped in or piped out, no thought given to how it gets to where it needs to go or what to do when it doesn't. Only thing they can do is call the city officials or the land lord and hope they fix it.

There is no self reliance. someone else is always required to solve their problems, this makes them predisposed to more government and politicians promises.

In rural America if the water stops you fix the pump, or dig a new well. If the power goes out, you fire up the generator. If the toilet backs up you pump the septic tank. You need food, you can grow it, raise it or hunt it.

The only thing cities produce is Democrats. I don't know what, if anything, we can do about this, just my ramblings.
