For starters the 12 amendment hadn’t been ratified which should be the only thing needed to realize there is no connection of that election vs now. Second, the election was contested which gave him said power. Without the house, we have no way to contest this election to give pence said power, nor would we need it if we had the house.
He can’t do anything but make a show. Idk why this shit gets passed around here. Say he does decide to not read out the “certified” votes from pa,wi, etc and instead reads the trump elector ones. They dems only need one member in each house to dispute. They then only need a majority in one house (house of reps would do this) to have results be contested and would default to the EC votes certified by the governor of the disputed state.
Dems in congress are 100% onboard with this. Fucking tailb, aoc, and pelosi have already sent an admendment for a straight 2k and nothing else.

Honestly all the liberals I know that have Trump family just lie to them and say they like Trump. Guarantee there are millions that think the have based kids who are in fact not anywhere near.
