I saw one of his YouTube lectures on the Gulag Archipelago (Solzhenitsyn). Just the stories he read out from the book were so harrowing they were almost unbearable. Talk about a truth-bomb. He once said that waving a hammer-and-sickle flag ought to be considered as disgusting as waving a swastika--and the fact that it isn't shows what bad shape our society is in, intellectually and morally.
Yeah, I forgot to mention TERFS. I remember seeing a photo of some blue-haired freakazoid wearing a t-shirt that read, "Kill All TERFS." It's called the tyranny of the minority, where the minority intimidates the majority with slurs like "bigot" if they don't give in to their demands. To unpack that a little: everybody in the union votes Democrat (of course); teachers unions are big campaign contributors to Democrats.
Also, charter schools take public funds away from public schools, so they have less money to waste on, e.g., fat salaries for crappy teachers. A teacher can sit in an empty room surfing her iPhone all day instead of teaching class because she knows it will cost the administration $300,000+ and a year's worth of red tape to fire her. She's not worth her salary and she's not worth the trouble to get rid of her (or him, whatever.)
Charter school teachers are not unionized = lost union dues. They tend to be young and energetic. In public schools you don't join the chess club, you join a gang. Charter schools are big on discipline.
