For me it was just how universally, wall to wall negative the entire media was about Trump in 2015 and 2016. In the UK the BBC even ran some hit piece about his golf course in Scotland(!). The shift from universally positive about Obama to universally negative about Trump I found super weird. I decided to try and find the websites with Trump supporting communities to hear from them. Found The_Donald and Breitbart (esp Milo) and went from there. The sheer endless excitement of you lot on Reddit was infectious. The 2016 election was the best election build up I’ve ever seen because of all the spicey memes (and I’m here in the UK so it’s not even my country’s election!)
I get this all the time and I’m not even American! My dad, otherwise a smart guy, has never been good at reading news reports critically and all his opinions are whatever the latest MSM line is. And then he thinks I only support Trump because I read biased news sources. When I (continually) point out that I don’t bother with any dinosaur media and I look for info from primary sources it just does not seem to compute for him. Most recent is all the voter fraud. I’ve been repeating all the stats analysis you guys have been sharing to confirm it for myself (it’s all true) and yet NYT says it’s been debunked so therefore my dad is adamant it’s debunked and I just read dodgy news sources. Infuriating.
