He really is going to make Caitlyn Bruce again!
Something dawned on me a bit ago while thinking about yesterday. As others have pointed out, President Trump's video message for everyone to go home must have been pre-recorded because it was outside at the White House and it was way too quiet to have been during the events of yesterday.
Looking at the text of the Insurrection Act, here's what it says about the proclamation to disperse:
"Whenever the President considers it necessary to use the militia or the armed forces under this chapter, he shall, by proclamation, immediately order the insurgents to disperse and retire peaceably to their abodes within a limited time."
His recorded message qualifies as this proclamation, which as others have pointed out is probably why Twitter/FB/Instagram pulled it, because the people pulling their strings understood what it was.
The epiphany I had this morning was that in order to make the proclamation to disperse, there has to be a group of people to disperse. So while the huge crowd yesterday was a show of strength and support for the whole world to see, it was more importantly a necessary ingredient if he is going to use the Insurrection Act. He hasn't needed to tell people to come to DC the last couple of times, but this time he made sure.
Can someone hook me up? DuckDuckGo isn't being my friend.
I had to make returns to two stores today, Costco and Fred Meyer. (For those who don't know Fred Meyer, think of it as a slightly more upscale Wal-Mart.) This was at the Tumwater locations of both stores, which are side by side, and about a 5 minute drive from the state capitol campus, so pretty much the belly of the beast.
First Costco. Pre-Covid, if you had a return you could walk straight in through the exit door and right into the returns line. Now they make you walk all the way to the far corner of the store, past a long a barricade of carts, and past their mask gestapo checkpoint. Normally the gestapo stooge (which is always a large-ish guy, I've noticed) will challenge you if they don't see a mask. I had mine in hand and I guess the guy saw it because he didn't challenge me. Normally I have mine in my pocket and get challenged. I always wait until I'm about to enter the store before I finally put the thing on, per their posted rules. Discretion is the better part of valor, and they will fight you if you don't put the thing on, so you have to pick your battles for now. That will change soon enough. I went through the front entrance, cut over to the exit (about 30 feet from the spot where they told me I had to go around to the entrance), did my return, pulled off the mask and left.
Next time I have to do a return, I'm going to be "on my phone," blow past the "go around" guy and ignore him. Basically give him the panhandler treatment.
On to Fred Meyer next door. I decided to wait until challenged to consider donning the mask. I figured there would be someone at the door, but nope. I also didn't notice any obvious mask signage. Walked in and got right in the returns line. Looked around, smiling at people and making eye contact. Waited in line a few minutes. An elderly vet (had a veteran cap on) was at the counter and when he turned around and saw me he gave a knowing nod. (He was wearing a mask, but like I said he was also elderly.) When it was my turn, the girl at the counter was friendly and never once mentioned the lack of mask. I finished my business and headed for the exit. A young guy, employee, looked me over as I exited the customer service area but said nothing.
After Christmas (and I have personal reasons why it needs to be post-Christmas) I'm going to start doing more civil disobedience with Costco's policies. Rather than just saying screw Costco, I think it will be more effective to take the battle to them, especially since they literally stood by our dumbass governor as he made one of his business-killing decrees.
C'mon, folks. Please at least look at Rising before you post, to see if there's already a thread.
...the media response is going to be some version of "That's it?" or "She's crazy." There's literally nothing she can say that will make them report honestly. So we go over their heads straight to the people.
Just thinking about POTUS' tweet from June warning of illegally printed ballots.
States must hire out to have their ballots printed (I'd be very surprised if done internally) so there would have to be purchase orders with quantities of ballots. So, it should be academic to find out how many legitimate ballots were printed. You find out who the state contracted and go to them to investigate.
If you have more ballots cast than legitimately printed, there's proof of fraud right there.
