And we all know how that turned out. Millions tax of dollars spent, hundreds of thousands of man hours wasted, and lo, the bay still defies government and corporate censorship merrily.

Only a government would design a computer network to survive a nuclear war and then deliberately try to excise parts of it and then get pissed because they can't.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered." - Attributed to Thomas Jefferson

Among other things, it opens the otherwise useless land up for oil exploration under various international agreements morocco already has with the US.

Since we have all the oil we need right now, I'm betting trump brokered the horse trading between israel and morocco to allow the Israelis in to go explore for it. Getting an oil source for israel that doesn't involve the house of saud would make... pretty much everyone happy.

The constitution grants nothing. It is a delegation of authority from the people to the government and specifies precisely how the government is allowed to wield it.

There's only one reason he'd need to lawyer up instead of having the state attorney general fight it for him: He's get some shit he needs protected by attorney-client privilege that wouldn't apply to the attorney general, and who would be required to prosecute him if disclosed.

  1. Voter fraud happens.
  2. Governor perpetuates it to election fraud or is somehow complicit with the voter fraud.
  3. Admitting either of these to state AG = impeachment and/or criminal prosecution.
  4. So outside counsel is needed who is barred from revealing any of the governor's dirty laundry.

More important was the case's affirmation about the investigatory powers of the grand jury, and how they may be convened.

"The individual may stand upon his constitutional rights as a citizen. He is entitled to carry on his private business in his own way. His power to contract is unlimited. He owes no duty to the State or to his neighbors to divulge his business, or to open his doors to an investigation, so far as it may tend to criminate [sic] him. He owes no such duty to the State, since he receives nothing therefrom beyond the protection of his life and property. His rights are such as existed by the law of the land long antecedent to the organization of the State, and can only be taken from him by due process of law, and in accordance with the Constitution. Among his rights are a refusal to incriminate himself and the immunity of himself and his property from arrest or seizure except under a warrant of the law. He owes nothing to the public so long as he does not trespass upon their rights." Hale v. Henkel, 201 U.S. 43 (1906)

No one rules if no one obeys. That's why communism always eventually fails. They can't keep the consent of the people under them to keep meaningful production going. The only reason countries like china have gotten away with it so far is because we are subsidizing them with trade. You take that away, they fail.

Even then their population demographics have fucked them. 30 years after the 1 child policy they're out of 30 year olds. Once all their "boomers" that are now responsible for the lionshare of their economic production exit the workforce they won't be able to sustain their current model any further. They ain't as smart as everyone thinks they are.
