My city a few years back had a mass exodus of officers because they decreased wages while other nearby cities had their wages go way up. The people who make these suggestions don't realize officers don't have to stay where they are. Most police officers are community faithful but that commitment only goes so far. When the horizon at the city next door looks very nice good officers leave. All you have left is lazy, scared, and new officers mixed with a few good ones. Bad things happen when police officers lose faith in their fellow rookies, it starts a new cycle of indecisive actions by rookies and tactical leadership purely on the basis of fear of failure. When a veteran cop can't trust their partner to take a shot in a dangerous situation or cover their back, they simply decide to make all the important calls on their own to reduce risk. Without stable membership of officers they tend to do a bad job. The best cops have partners who they've shared decades with and trust with their lives in any situation.
Noticed this too, I have no idea if empty polling places is something to worry or be happy about. I have yet to see a single line at a polling spot anywhere. I honestly have no idea what to expect tomorrow but I can imagine the cities will be empty and rural places will be jammed.
I have a funny story to tell about a way Biden is losing thousands votes but I'll wait til tomorrow to say. You would not believe how dumb Biden voters can be. If you thought it's going to be a landslide it's going to be crazier than that by a large margin.
When you put it that way it makes sense why liberals and conservatives are divided along a very specific line. The liberal and conservative divide is between people in industries who depend on government subsidies and handouts to maintain their industry. By contrast conservatives are concentrated in circles where they remain independent from pensions or weekly subsidized government paychecks. With the exception of police officers, which we know is a very uniquely shifting case at the moment, there's a near horizon split of population that is dependent and independent of and for government money. Also consider that lobbying is a form of dependency on government, meaning lawyers cough cough.

Open ended argument. If you want to do away with the old school taxi service industry and replace it with the ride share service you get to choose. The problem with it is you replace full time jobs with contract ones, so if you or anyone you know wants to make a career out of it they lose out massively. As a service it's convenient and cheaper than the way it was with taxis, but workers face problems if they aren't just working the weekend for some pocket cash. I see this causing unpredictable problems in future service if passed. Prices could fluctuate once they realize they've cornered the market, so soaring ride prices are a very real possibility sooner or later.
From an economic perspective it's never considered ethical to offer a handful of companies a competitive advantage over competing ones. Presumably competitors would have to adapt, but these rules (which are considered a free pass) only benefit 3 monopolies. It's a lobbyist bill in the purest sense. The vote really is up to you, do you want the convenience by handing it over to a trio of big kids on the block? If you do they'll offer you convenient rates for services. If you trust them to hold that part of the bargain and maintain it. The libertarian in me and probably any American capitalist cannot sit well with such a thing ever. On the other hand I do realize cheap rides are important and despise the taxi industry for creating an artificial standard for pricing for decades. There's no wrong answer. To put in ELI5 terms: do you want to replace the old Taxi mafia with the new snakes?

Very fine line we need to walk here. I want people to follow transportation vehicles to the dropoff locations to make sure they aren't dumped or somehow made to disappear. That part isn't illegal in the least bit, however I do feel doxxing the people doing it may tiptoeing the line. The only thing voters should be concerned about is the route those vehicles take, which wouldn't require you to know the person driving at all. This has potential to be misunderstood and exaggerated to law enforcement, the funny part about that is if they do call police they will escort (and record) them to the local precincts so that may help out unbeknownst to them.
