Four major corporations have spoken out against recent Texas election reform bills.

One of the pieces of legislation, Senate Bill 7, would limit extended early voting hours, ban drive-thru voting and prohibit local election officials from automatically sending mail-in-voting applications to voters, according to The Texas Tribune.

Senate Bill 7 also gives more power to poll watchers and requires a doctor’s note for Texans with disabilities who are requesting to vote by mail, as reported by The Associated Press.

American Airlines criticized the legislation in a statement released Thursday: “Earlier this morning, the Texas State Senate passed legislation with provisions that limit voting access. To make American’s stance clear: We are strongly opposed to this bill and others like it.”

"Any legislation dealing with how elections are conducted must ensure ballot integrity and security while making it easier to vote, not harder. At American, we believe we should break down barriers to diversity, equity and inclusion in our society – not create them,” the statement added.

Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell announced his company’s opposition to House Bill 6, another Texas election reform bill, in a Twitter post:

With absolutely ZERO evidence for this ridiculous horseshit allegation:

Democratic senators are floating the idea of using the 14th amendment to bar former President Donald Trump from holding a public office again, the Hill reported Friday.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment states that no public official who has taken an oath to the Constitution may hold public office again after having “engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.” The House has officially charged Trump with “incitement of insurrection” in his second impeachment on January 14, but he has yet to be convicted of the charge in the Senate.

Democratic senators including Tim Kaine of Virginia, and Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy of Connecticut, told the Hill that the 14th Amendment was, in their view, on the table. However, it’s unclear how realistic the move would be.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday explicitly placed blame on President Donald Trump for the deadly riot at the Capitol, saying the mob was “fed lies” and that the president and others “provoked” those intent on overturning Democrat Joe Biden’s election.

McConnell's remarks as he opened the Senate were his most severe and public rebuke of outgoing President Donald Trump. The Republican leader vowed a “safe and successful” inauguration of Biden on Wednesday at the Capitol, which is under extremely tight security.

“The mob was fed lies," McConnell said. “They were provoked by the president and other powerful people, and they tried to use fear and violence to stop a specific proceeding of the first branch of the federal government which they did not like.”

Sen. Joe Manchin is denouncing the House Democrat-led effort to impeach President Trump in the days before he leaves office, calling it “so ill-advised.”

The West Virginia Democrat, who will become one of the most influential senators in the next Congress as a moderate in a tightly divided body, said he saw no possibility of that (impeachment) happening in the current Senate.

“We’ve been trying to send that message over [to the House]. They know the votes aren’t there,” Manchin said at the start of his answer.

“I think this is so ill-advised for Joe Biden to be coming in, trying to heal the country, trying to be the president of all the people when we are going to be so divided and fighting again.

Per the intrepid reporters at The Babylon Bee:

But the ever-clever Trump, always known as the smartest man in the room, has managed to get back on the social network by disguising himself as one Chongald Xrump, PR specialist for the Chinese Communist Party.

Trump is reportedly attempting to build a following by tweeting about how good Uighur concentration camps are and how nice the Chinese government is, since those things are not banned under Twitter's terms of service. Once he has enough followers, he'll remove his Asian rice hat and false Fu Manchu mustache and begin tweeting about the rigged election once again.

"Hello good sirs, I am here today to tell you how great our concentration camps are! Very clean and humane!" he wrote. The tweet was not flagged for inciting violence or being, you know, the tweet of a communist country that has killed tens of millions of its own citizens. In fact, people who replied and questioned the legitimacy of his tweet were suspended for hate speech.

Should his ploy fail, Trump says he will next try disguising himself as an Antifa leader.

(House Reps' votes shown in 2nd link at bottom of post.)

The House of Representatives on Monday voted to override President Trump’s veto of a $740 billion defense bill.

The 322-87 vote easily cleared the two-thirds threshold needed to make the bill law. The Senate is expected to hold its override vote this week. It would be the first override of a Trump veto.

Trump objected to provisions that would slow a troop drawdown in Afghanistan and mandate the renaming of 10 bases that honor Confederates. He also demanded that it repeal legal protections for social media companies.

The bill passed this month over Trump's objections by 84-13 in the Senate and 335-78 in the House. Some Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), voted for the bill but said they would not support an override.

A majority of both major parties voted to override Trump’s veto, with 109 Republicans, 212 Democrats and one independent breaking with the president.

Sixty-six Republicans, 20 Democrats and an independent opposed the override vote. Some Democrats who originally voted against the bill supported the veto override.

Trump’s bid to force legislators to repeal Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act received bipartisan pushback from congressmen who said it was unrelated to the military.

CALL (local district office is best):

Use the House of Representatives website to find your representative. You can find the number of your representative online through the House of Representatives website. All you have to do is enter your zip code into the search bar. You will be directed to a list of numbers for the representatives in your area.[1]

If you want to contact your representative, but do not know who they are, you can find that information at the following URL: [http://clerk.house.gov/member_info/mcapdir.aspx]

OPT FOR YOUR DISTRICT OFFICE. In general, offices found in D.C. tend to be very busy and staffers may not be familiar with your area specifically. Look for district found in the state of your congressional representative. It is easier to get through to these and the staffer may be more familiar with local issues that concern you.[2] The district office number should be listed alongside the D.C. office on the House of Representatives website.

https://www.potus.com/presidential-facts/pardons-commutations/]

President Trump has so far granted 46 Pardons ( or more accurately, Clemency - including both pardons & commutations). Per the above link (last updated in October 2018, and which counts all acts of clemency as "pardons") that number would rank 39th among the 44 Presidents (yes, 44).

Obama, at #4, granted 1,927 pardons. George W. Bush at #30, granted 200. Clinton granted 459 (#21) and Reagan granted 406 (#24).

1st on the list is Franklin Roosevelt with 3,687 pardons.

Regardless of the outcome of the 2020 election, it will be interesting to see who Trump pardons in the remainder of this term. I know who I'd like pardon 48 to be.

March 22, 2020 Coronavirus Lunacy: Take a Deep Breath, Society

By David Scott Strain

Like most people, I had initial deep concerns regarding the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. However, I think some perspective and proportion are overdue.

Let's start with something provocative: aside from high-risk populations, does the entire American population really need to "social distance" itself into isolation and depression? Do large numbers of Americans really need to be forced into underemployment and unemployment? Do large numbers of businesses really need to shut their doors and face bankruptcy? Unrecoverability?

For people over 65 or with underlying health issues, such as emphysema, asthma, congestive heart issues, cancer, and other identified vulnerabilities, social distancing and even self-quarantine may be wise. But even here, it should be a personal choice: if you're 70, 74, 82, 99, and wish to visit your grandchildren, you should be able to. After all, your time is especially limited and precious, and why live as if dead to avoid death? The irony is supreme.

Come to think of it, my time is precious.

Meantime, for the vast majority of the population, we're acting as if we're facing something with a 100% mortality rate — that if you catch it, you're dead. Yet virtually everyone recovers. There are 155 COVID-19 deaths in the U.S. thus far. So what? Approximately 7,452 people die every day in the U.S. — without help from COVID-19. In the time it took you to read this paragraph, two people died. COVID-19 deaths thus far are two one hundredths of one percent of all average yearly deaths. With self-quarantine of the elderly and at-risk groups, and the heightened alerts for use of hand-sanitizer, cleaning of surfaces, etc., we should be able to survive this without closing schools and killing simple entertainment pursuits. In other words, give us our lives back! (How did we let government take them in the first place?)

(And it continues on - a good read, in fact it gets better.)

New changes announced:

1) End cash bail by January 2) Conviction integrity unit 3) No death penalty 4) Felony charging no longer seeking enhancements i.e. gang affiliation 5) Juveniles will not be tried as adults 6) Use-of-force review board to reopen fatal officer-involved shooting cases going back to 2012!

Californians last month overwhelmingly voted against ending cash bail and voted against ending the death penalty, but the radical Marxist DA is marching forward with his own policy changes against the will of the people.

The Los Angeles police union blasted the radical DA’s move to end cash bail and called it “disturbing.”

“As homicides, shooting victims, and shots fired into occupied homes soar in Los Angeles, it’s disturbing that Gascón’s first act in office is to explore every avenue possible to release from jail those responsible for this bloodshed,” the Los Angeles Police Protective League said in a statement. “Victims and law-abiding residents lost a voice today while criminals and gang members gained an ally in the prosecutor’s office.”

Supposing a scenario where the President prevails in enough states to be right at the cusp of 270, with North Carolina then due to come in and put him over the top. I really hope we have people on top of things there, so that the Dim bastards can't pull last minute shenanigans there!

30

Obviously FEDERAL offices are involved in these state elections, and appears there are certain civil rights issues as well.

WHERE is the DOJ? WHY aren't US Marshals escorting gop observers and making sure they can successfully observe?

The COLLAPSE of all our institutions is horrifying to see.
