I think the death count is now are 250. Almost entire country has been in a nation wide strike. They have had atleast 600 police quit becuase they refuse to carry out the orders to shoot at unarmed protesters. If they had the support of the people then there wouldnt have been this reaction.
You gotta prove fraud, not just claim it. They havn't really presented any evidence of voter fraud or tried to sway public opinion. Instead they bring guns and shot unarmed protesters. I really dont see how you can take their side in this. The biggest proof you can ask for is the huge turnout for the anti coup protests. They are very similar to the hong kong protests.
There two big parties, NLD and the military party (USDP). NLD has widespreed support among the people. USDP is support and promoted by the military. Basically, military families support this party. But the military also has 25% of the house seat which are in thier control permanently. Meaning that USDP only needs 1/3 votes for the military to get a majority. Meanwhile the other parties needs 2/3 of the vote.
There are also a few small ethic parties, but note that these parties tend to side with NLD, with some execptions. But people usually perfer to vote directly for NLD. In worst case they would have had to bring in some parties into thier coalition. In order to get a majority.
NLD won the election by a landslide, similar to the last election, which is no suprise. The military claim election fruad, arrested thier leaders, beat at least one of them to death. It is a typical coup, they have offered no support for thier claims but they dont need to becuase they control the institutions.
If you would walk the streets of yangon a year ago almost every cab would have a NLD sticker. They didnt loose their support in 5 years. The hate for the military runs very deep in myanmar.
I have personally lived in Myanmar and I have friends there. There is no support for the military party amoung the population at all. So claiming it was rigged and that the military party actually won the election is a completly absurd claim, if you know anything about the country.
I dont know why there is a community here trying to push that narative. But it is wrong, the military in myanmar is genecidal. They are shooting unarmed protesters every night in the streets of yangon right now. They also spent decades selling out myanmars natural resources to china for personal gain.
Well I get where you are coming from, I would argue it is underreported everywhere but look at the two girls who claimed Assange raped them. IT is by similar definitions that the rape statistic created. Almost no other country would classify that as rape. Also, the bombing stat is very liberally defined.
