Wow, that happened fast. It was like 5 minutes max. I missed part of it when the video player stuttered on my end. I guess I'll have to wait for the summary the news outlets put out, unless someone else got a summary.
Next time we (I) should be ready to take notes and should probably post this 10-20m earlier next time.
Maybe a stickyable post 10m ahead of time would be better next time.
I don't think so, this is the stream from the court. I think they are only showing a stream like this because the courts aren't letting people in to watch, because of covid, and this is the alternative they came up with so citizens are still able to view the court activities.
What happens if they are successful in arguing against extraditing him? Will the charges against him in WI be dropped?
I think the IL courts are closed in-person because of covid (that's why this is viewable by livestream at all). But maybe it's possible for local people to go outside the court building for this hearing if they want to show support in person?
He's being held without bail in IL, the 2m bail is set in WI. He has raised about $2.6m last I checked. At the last hearing two weeks ago his attorney said that it was their intention to fight the extradition:
Attorney John Pierce told the judge he intends to challenge extradition by writ of habeas corpus. That means Pierce wants a hearing before a judge in which the state presents reason for the detention of his client.
They use the same stream for everyone who's being heard in that specific courtroom, I think.
