You're in seriously Third-World territory with mail-in voting. Time for federal election standards, with in-person voting mandatory on the day.

Advance in-person voting for a set period before E-Day in case you cannot make it (e.g. shift work).

In all cases, voter ID must be presented, and three signatures obtained (the voter, and two different poll workers).

You would compare the voter's signature from their driver licence, or passport physically - no digital copy stored for access by poll workers.

Thanks so much for that.

If there is one thing I have noticed, the Legislatures are starting to stiffen their spines, especially in States with a Democrat Governor or Secretary of State.

I suspect the evidence to these people is so intense that they are unable to look away, they realise they have to do something. They have to stand and fight.

Dems have no good legal grounds to stand on.

Is this why Associate Justice Alito has said responses must be received by 12/9? (i.e. a signal saying they have no good grounds?)

Even if E.C. 'deadlocks',

By "deadlock", you mean one Representative, and one Senator saying "no" to a State's result?

This ✔ , how did you make it appear in your comment? (I just copied and pasted it).

In other words, the first deal is a win for him, and any later deal is an even bigger/better win for him; including if no deal occurs and he walks away from the negotiating table.

Like that scene in The Godfather (novel) where a character is given a cheque for $20,000, then, after he refuses, one for $10,000 - not realising what that drop in figure actually represents.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the trap that the President has laid?

Kemp's daughter looks like the mumsy type;

She's pleasant to look at - and I prefer the "mumsy" type as it were. More often than not, they're wonderful, warm people.

The latter? No thanks, been there, done that.

My thoughts are with her, and his family.

And for all those attacking her for her looks? Have some decency.

This one got a belly laugh from me.

I'll add "and we fuck up Joe Biden along the way."

Alito is about to set my analogy into action.

And I'll be sitting in the bleachers with a wry smile on my face while he does so.

From what I can tell, Justice Alito has set the response for December 9th, as that would mean there are still lawsuits in play by the 8th, so electors cannot be sent by PA, unless all lawsuits/disputes are settled?

Sweet, sweet revenge.

You don't get to be political like the PA Supreme Court was, and expect to get away with it.

Alito knows how PA works, he was on the Third Circuit for fifteen years.

That, and ignoring an Associate Justice's orders is not wise.

Praying for you!

FWIW, I was 13 weeks premature.

A few health issues, but that is the way the Man upstairs decided things.

I'm imagining this car stuck in neutral, going absolutely nuts, horn beeping, windows going up and down, radio going full blast - you get the picture.

Had a good gut laugh with that.
