Historically, waaay back, Australia was settled by English convicts. When you were fighting your war of independence the empire landed in Australia (approx date). So I do wonder if there is a subtle ‘f you’ to authority that perhaps you guys have from your war of independence, and we have coming out of the colonial justice system. But I’m totally guessing there.
I want to add one more important thing to my previous comment about why we MAGA. Mate - we owe you all a debt we can never repay. That’s why we want you to succeed and be great.
In world war 2 England basically gave up on us. They had their own problems. We faced a real threat of invasion. We were out gunned and outnumbered. It was America that helped us when our chips were down. Though the jokes from the time was that all the American service men were overpaid and oversexed. Kinda funny.
Good question fren. Couple of reasons. First what happens in American matters to Australia. We are like the little village down stream - about 4 years down stream. Culturally, politically etc... strong America = strong Australia.
Taking that theme - Australia, I would argue is one of the, if not the, closest military partner. I believe we are actually the only country in the world who, for as long as we have existed we have fought beside you everywhere and on the same side.
Culturally there is a connection. Why? Big open expanse. This creates that rugged individualism. We’re fighters at heart. We love V8 muscle. But we also have to help each other when nature tries to kill everyone. Hence ‘mates’.
Lastly, and it sucks, but we’re on the same course America was in 2015. It could go bad here. With America strong we have a chance IMO.
