Still getting used to thinking of Texas in a positive way. My family used to warn me to not visit Texas because they said I would piss someone off and get shot. My father told me I would not be able to handle the weather there. Also not a big fan of politicians from Texas like LBJ and Dubya. But my favorite cartoon is King of the Hill, and I do love the portrayal of Texas in the show.

I was raised Catholic. Still figuring out if I can find a local parish for me. All the local churches near me, both Catholic and Protestant, promote Cultural Marxism by with signs and symbols for BLM, George Floyd, "racism is a sin", how open they are to LGBTQIA+, etc. The local Catholic school even had the students decorate the church parking lot, with one of the spaces with a BLM fist. It's very disheartening and disturbing. Perhaps I'm being a perfectionist by having an internal wish list, but I find it difficult to open my heart (and my wallet) to strangers that behave like this, especially when I have to reserve my love for my sister who behaves like described above. And frankly, I don't want to wear a mask to go to church. So I have resorted to independently study my faith and know it and be able to preach it from my heart, so that when the day comes that I do find a parish, I'll be a strong and valuable member.

I'll keep the storybook Bible in mind, thank you.

As an Illinoisan, very accurate. It would be inspiring to many here to see the Dems get wrecked in a consequential way for all the world to see, so that maybe we can drive the corruption out of our beloved Land of Lincoln.

Real damn shame. 100% of any potential stimulus check I would get would all go to American or local businesses for American-made products. I'm meeting plenty of goals, both financially and in my career, so a chance to spread the wealth and support my community, give gifts to my family, and treat myself is always welcome.

My reason for my comment is more for that many of the people I encountered in my studies fail to take care of themselves and are not well-rounded people. I don't think it hurts to have a few people with technical backgrounds if they are well-rounded individuals. Lord knows we have more than enough lawyers making our imagined order ever more complicated. But yes, the thought of scientists trying to approach lawmaking and policy enforcement via the scientific method is disturbing.

As someone with an engineering degree, I will say that you do not want nerds making up the bulk of legislatures and bureaus. Listening to nerds is part of the reason why we are in the mess we are in now.

Detroit and America's ghettos are a great place for Chinese espionage to happen. So easy to manipulate and bribe ghetto trash who then can cozy up with the local Democrat machines. It's been a Chinese tactic to divide America by race and wealth since the Korean War.

Seriously, there are people in Chicago mad that many of the deaths and cases are coming from the black neighborhoods. The virus is racist!

Eh, if people are patriots, I don't care what immutable traits. I'd argue that in Chicago, the Latino population is in general more integrated into American society than the African-American population because the Latino areas gentrify faster than the black areas. If immigration includes assimilation, then it works. But we have plenty of native-born citizens that aren't even assimilated into American culture, of every skin color, religion, etc. I have some ideas on how to encourage people to assimilate and be patriotic, like teaching financial literacy.
