Doesn't matter how legit your reason is and how badly the employer broke the law, suing an employer is career suicide. It sucks.
Edit: to everyone downvoting me. You're dumb. You think being party to a lawsuit doesn't show up on background checks? You think once a company you're interviewing with finds out you've sued a past employer that they're still making you an offer?
Pro tip: when you're looking for a new job, show on your resume you still work there. That way, it looks like you're just shopping around or looking for something new and not that you were fired or laid off.
Most recruiters and employers looking to hire won't call your current employer. Also make a point to mention you don't want them contacting your current employer.
Source: it took me 12 years to figure this out after being laid off and I told recruiters I was laid off. Nobody will hire anyone who's been laid off.
