The adjudicated ballot image "becomes" the legally cast ballot.
So the original image is overwritten, and lost or destroyed... as a function of the system's design.

The determination of accepted slates is solely at the discretion of the Vice President. It doesn't matter how many newscasters or governors or legislators wrote that they agree on the envelope.

However it does show the misalignment of the reference stripes.
This is critical, because to a human eye with no context it doesn't look like an error.
As far as the scanner is concerned, this misalignment pushes the expected location of the circles away from where the voter would have placed them. This means that the scanner is going to send ALL of these ballots to be adjudicated.
The adjudication process changes the adjudicated ballot into the legally cast ballot. The original scan is not retained. This also opens an explanation for why there are so many ballots that only voted for Biden, the adjudicator didn't realize that they were erasing the down ballot races.
