People have an inclination towards self interest. This isn’t bad all the time. It is in our self interest to help others and engage in mutually beneficial relationships as the more inter human networks we build, the more we serve and are served by others without compulsion. That is my point.
Bad ppl exist too and yes you can find them under any institution or philosophy under the sun.
Free market capitalism is predicated on equality of opportunity.
Equality of opportunity recognizes in contrast individuals and groups are different, therefore have different interests, and therefore different outcomes.
Differences in outcome are not “bad” or “good” as long as people make free choices that are mutual and consenting.
For example the fact 98% of people arrested for violent crime are men doesn’t mean the system is against men.
Also the 1% richest ppl are not oppressed by the 99%.
Also look up the Pareto Principle. Regardless of activity: Sports, Economics, Business, Education, Manufacturing, etc the top 20% produce 80% of a respective activity of human or material production.
What Freedom and Free Markets do is diversify the “games” you play so you can find your 20% Pareto niche.
Suck at math but good at art? Pursue that. Suck at painting but good with pastels? Go for it. You may even have multiple Pareto niches in your repertoire.
Free markets create limitless opportunity by diversifying the games we play. Leftists assume it is all one big zero sum game. That is what you miss. Yes there are things that prevent that but those things inhibit free markets rather than create them.
Free market capitalism opposes BOTH corporate and govt monopolies. Failure to reign in either leads to grave consequences. Socialists only look at corporate monopolies as bad but don’t realize govt monopolies are not only just as bad. They are generally worse.
Even with things like Police and the Army, under a free market, private militia and stand your ground defense laws make sure even in those circumstances, the govt does not have a monopoly
Let me give you some things that make the socialists stutter every time:
Tactical Keynesian capitalism in which mass spending to get the economy out of a slump (as a temporary placeholder for consumers before their confidence is regained) IS NOT Socialism. Once the economy is back up, the govt gives back all the ground it took to the free market.
Difference with socialism is the govt does not withdraw that power and control.
The left does not understand the Pareto Principle which basically states any given profession, the top 20% will do work >= the other 80%. This works for programming, art, income, etc.
The free market harvests this natural law for each person to find their Pareto niche. Suck at mat but good at art? Suck at water color but good at paint? Do that.
Free market empowers the best and most passionate to succeed. I for one don’t want to be rich, I am fine being middle class. The leftist narrative about income inequality is rash and simplistic
