The President was a hour late, starting at noon. He finished at 1:15, with people them walking the two miles toward the Capitol. Most the people assembled on the west side, sitting on the bleachers set up for the swearing in. I have heard that others were let into the south side Capitol around 1:15, and Ashley was shot, while being escorted by uniformed Capitol police, at 1:48.

I would agree. He was an hour late. The speech was essentially the same as the Monday night Georgia speech. Something was extremely off about it. He certainly telegraphed Pence would betray him.
He said he would never concede and asked patriots join him to go to the Capitol. I don’t think he ever went, that is what is troubling me. What did he think patriots would do when they got there? Most of the rally goers ended up on the west side.
I am shocked at the violent portrayal of those people: many were elderly, some with walkers and wheel chairs. Grandma and Grandpa, middle aged housewives from everywhere. Generations of families. Yes, some young people took an aggressive stance, but no one carried pipe bombs or tear gas.

I’m going to bet the shooter wasn’t trained security. If he was Capitol police he would have HAD to have had communication with the uniformed police that were escorting this group.
Any law enforcement would have never fired without assessing what was behind the target. In this case, uniformed Capitol police.
I hope they catch the shooter.. He is on video. If you look at the video, there was an office worker casually crossing the hallway in the background. There was furniture blocking the door. No other security inside except this one guy.
