Moving is only difficult in your mind. When I was there freakin bartenders were packing it up and moving to colorado or Wisconsin. A lot of companies have been ran into the wall by executives with crazy wives. You marry a black woman and it’s just a matter of time before she convinces you to destroy your lives. My career is in finance and trading. I’ve worked at a handful of major banks (us and foreign) on equities and derivates programs.
None of this woke bullshit exists in that realm. It’s hyper competitive between banks and the only thing that matters is performance.
This is others people’s money were working with. Nothing about you matters except being better at your job than the next person. It was always my favorite thing about working in markets. Everyone is a fuckin zero until proven otherwise.
Chicago has a solid transportation system and people with money switched and started taking Uber instead.
My old L station was so overloaded and packed that it became common to forgo the train unless you were there before 7am or after 9am. There were literally no cars with room on them they were so slammed.
So all those people started to rely on Uber which absolutely clogged traffic, but you got to sit in a car instead of waiting an hour to be be smashed into a subway car like sardines.
After work it repeated the same story. Transit is so overloaded that people took Uber’s home and it just became a daily cadence over time.
Bc it’s cold as fuck in Chicago most of the year, that drove the numbers way higher in winter. Chicago is another example of public transit infrastructure becoming so insanely expensive to upscale, that its 10 Years behind its intended crowd size.
Public transport is a utopian ideal that simply cannot work as intended bc the cost of scale is totally out of budget. The train cars individually cost a million or more and new tracks are in the billions.
No amount of tax dollar programs will reprogram these people. They’re a total waste of money and time
