The current set of laws would resolve these issues, if they were actually applied.
The changes we need to make are in government and judiciary. Any attempts to "fix" the perceived problems by making alterations to the police force is a band aid attempt to cover up for the REAL problems in the legal system.

I agree there. But the guard was clearly neutered too, as they came in as "support" of the local police. States have immense power in this republic (reeeeeeee its a democracy).
