One of the major things "wrong" with these idiots is their Risk Management and complete lack of ability to make a reasonable risk assessment.
Risk of becoming unemployed? Guberment needs to pay!!
I might get sick one day? Universal healthcare for all since I can't afford to pay!
Risk of getting shot? Ban all guns.
COVID? OMG we are all going to die.
News says Orange Man gonna get us into a war?? Impeach!
power grid failure? We need more solar!!
Snow on southern roads in Texas once every 30 years? We need taxes to pay for snow plows!
The gun question is related. I think gun control is more about authoritarianism, In other words who has the right to use violence and to what level and what reasons. In Europe, many countries have stripped the right of private individuals to use violence for any reason, including defense of one’s self and property and most important of all, the right to defend one’s freedoms (this is how it relates to voting). This ties into the though process of colectivism, socialism and communism.
Everyone has a friend like this. They borrow money and promise to pay it back. They make excuses why they can’t pay it back like they promised and will do it later. Then they act as if everything is fine and trying to just forget about it. If pushed they just disappear. This is the same personality type who is now crying for student loan forgiveness.
Problem with pseudo intelectualism these days is people allow the “researchers” to Start with a conclusion and work backwards from there. Most climate science works the same way. Why? Because if the study doesn’t support the necessary conclusion , the research team will be out of a job and income.
That is not how it works though. Billionairs and Millionaires get to keep their money, and will get richer if they bow to the system. It's everyone else who gets fucked and turned into a worker ant living for the colony.
Cold produce was thrown away because it spoiled without electricity. Unsafe to sell. Bread sold out because there wasn’t much else to buy. My local stire is veing fully stocked tomorrow. Texas is not Venezuela. Only a commie would want you to believe that.
Yup. Major mis-information campeign. There was and still is issues with fossil fuels, but the large issue was wind and solar being non-existant.
On a typical day 20% or more of the grid is fed by Wind and Solar. Monday is was zero and Tuesday lower than 10%.
Natural gas also had a availability issue since homes were heating with natural gas, so even though there are fast deployment natural gas generation some of it didn't litterally have fuel to run. Couple that with one of our 4 nuke reactors going off line because of a sensor failure and here we are.
Can you blame wind and solar, well yes. There is 300 billion that was invested in them. A smart bet would have been to build redundancy and investing in fossil fuels as well but this was taboo. I don't object to hybrid strategy, but this mass deployment without backup was just a bad idea.
Yup. Retards are jerking off on twitter about Texas not having snowplows, that their tax dollars pay for them in their area so they don't have to worry about it... Just goes to show why socialism and communism is doomed to fail.
I know we have a reserve, but ercot is showing it at around 2600MW, while renewables are in the 20000MW area. Our reserve energy isn't nearly enough to plug the hole when there are issues with renewabless and burning sources at the same time.
At a minimum I would think if you deploy intermitent renewables, to have a back-up that covers half or all of it for days, not hours.
It's not just the frozen gas pipes for quick deployment generation. It's prioritization of funding to wind and solar (which in practice are off line, produce very little now). The secondary issue is peak gas demand. Many homes heat with gas, so it would be counter productive to pull gas supply from heating and redirect it to electricity generation. So some of the natural gas generation is ready to go, but no fuel. In this they made the correct short term decision.
Now another discussion is altogether how we got here?? We don't have gas reserves to feed backup power when we know wind and solar are intermittent. Unbelievable.
Also, one of our 4 nuke reactors did an emergency shutdown due to a sensor issue. The sensor ended up being frozen and now it's being spun up again, not sure if it's online already or not.
Further, due to decreased demand during covid, some power plants did needed overhauls since it was a good time to do so. This is in the minor category but some are down and won't be up till the overhauls are finished.
Anything race or skin color based is racist mmmm’kay? Content of character and not color of skin and all that.
