Water particles can be aerosolized with a cloth mask so the virus can absolutely hang in the air. I believe Duke did a study on masks recently and discovered this in their findings. Instead of heavier water droplets falling to the ground easily without a mask, the mask actually breaks up bigger droplets and creates very small water droplets and can hang in the air.
