The economy in California and Delaware are different Florida and south Dakota also. The federal government should be more concerned with reducing ever accelerating inflation, wich hurts we the people much more than an agreed upon wage. That being said a livable minimum wage is necessary. Some people and its a cold hard fact of life are not capable of work we would consider anything but minimum wage type. To quote judge Smells "the world needs ditch diggers too danny". The U.S. isnt just rocket scientists and bankers, the low functioning members of society can either earn a wage stuffing happy meal boxes, live off of welfare, or turn to crime. Id prefer the states implement fair wages, and the federal government restore the value of the dollar.
