My favorite comment:

"I'm a newbie to politics and government. But how is the president appointing a supreme court justice not a conflict of interest?"

I literally laughed out loud at the stupidity of that one!

yeah I did ctrl+F but since it doesn't show the whole thread, it doesn't find everything.

Well yeah, the Supreme Court had its power (wrongfully) expanded. However, now that we have control, we should very well use that power that has been established to put things back and then hopefully reduce that power back to simply following the constitution.

The reason we even got judges confirmed is that the Senate finally recognized that it's us vs them rather then an actual genuine discussion of a candidate. Mitch McConnell decided to actually play the game rather than the game we're "supposed" to be playing. Of course it's sad and divided, but you won't resolve anything by pretending that the other side is not actively trying to destroy you and the entire country.

WASHINGTON

STATEWIDE

Lieutenant Governor

Joshua Freed (write in). The ballot has two democrats to vote for, but Joshua Freed is a Republican write-in running against them.

CLARK COUNTY

Legislative District 18 State Senator

Tom Mielke (write in). Ann Rivers the "Republican" might as well be a democrat, so Tom Mielke is the best choice to write in.

Other than that I went straight red all the way. With the independents, I avoided the vague statement ones and looked for those who served on a Republican committee, or straight up said they were Christian with conservative values.

Does anyone know of a way I could check to see if my ballot was invalidated in past Washington State elections? Or even if this election has my ballot already printed off by someone else?

I wish I had the time and money to take the state to court over disenfranchising me. If anyone can point to a court case to support, please do! I’d sure like to see this taken to the Supreme Court!!

At least this explains how Inslee keeps getting elected.

I...wow I put in my name and birthday in the WA portal, sure enough, I could print another ballot. In bold print it said doing so would invalidate my ballot sent by mail. That is sooooooo insecure! I wonder if my votes counted at all in any election...

1&2

But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder. James 2:18-19 (NIV 1984 version).

We obviously disagree what they keys to the kingdom means, but I believe it is faith in Jesus Christ as He says he is the only way to heaven (John 14:6)

True enough that Jesus didn’t revoke anything, however we obviously disagree that the earlier statement did not establish a succession of popes, he was merely talking to Peter (and from my studies, he was talking about Himself being the rock that the church would be built on, which matches Scripting elsewhere: Jesus is the cornerstone the builders rejected, build your house on the rock, etc.) The papal succession was a man-made grab for power in my opinion.

Also in Matthew 23:9 Jesus says, “And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.” I believe the Catholic priests (and I think the pope?) taking the title of Father and establishing a sort of hierarchy goes against what Jesus is teaching here. He goes on to say that the greatest will be your servant (verse 11). So the idea of a human ruler over all the church really contrasts what Jesus actually taught.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

Explicitly it says our works don’t save us, it must be through faith. However James later tells us that “I’ll prove my faith by what I do.” So faith is proven by acting on it, but just doing the act will not save you.

As far as ONLY Peter getting the keys exclusively it says nothing of the sort, it just says that Peter received them, I agree that the key is faith in Jesus Christ and that key is shared freely with anyone who will receive it.

Only a few short verses after he gave the keys, Jesus is telling Peter to “ get behind me Satan!” for being so dead wrong in his thinking. So clearly it doesn’t establish infallibility.

Common misunderstanding due to a bad translation. Peter means small rock, while the rock Jesus said he would build his church on would be like a huge boulder (talking about Himself)

While Peter had a lot of responsibility and power in the early church, there is nothing in the Bible about a succession of people that inherit that role.
