Even if they do not believe they had better support Christianity. It is indeed the basis of our culture and way of life. Too bad we have so many Christians unwilling to fight. "Onward Christian soldiers" is the call, and yet so many deny the faith. That is what leads to people simply complaining about the ills of the world and doing nothing about them. Christianity is the right religion. It has given us America, regardless of revisionist history revising it.

Most all the atheists on thedonald have been respectful in a way to me. I am not so worried about that, but the fact they have no fear of God.
The Savior died, not for righteous people, but for repentant sinners. I pray they will give up on their hatred for God, and come to understand the love of His Son.

Christianity was not spread by force for its first 300 years, and many Christians, myself included do not look at Catholicism as anything but Christian in name only. The Catholic church has been brutal to many, many martyrs. Foxe's book of martyrs details that quite well.
I would also dispute the claim that Christianity has been a violent religion in the same regard as Islam. It is not even close. Besides, wars are typically not fought in the name of religion. The Crusades certainly had an element of that, but wars are typically motivated by economics and politics. There is a role which religion plays in all of that, I do not deny, but I reject the general hypothesis you have structured because it is not sound thinking. And those wars were between Islam and Christianity in particular. If religion were such a problem with respect to wars, then the atheism of modern history is far and away the greatest cost of human life. The godless communists have killed far more people than the Christians and Muslims combined in all of their history. More people died as a result of purging religion in the 20th Century than all the last 19 centuries prior with the various supposed religiously motivated wars.
I reject atheism on the grounds that it is not good for humanity based on that argument. There is a lot of value in the Christian religion, and I am glad that you have some level of appreciation for Christianity. Culturally, it is the greatest thing that ever happened to mankind. The general tenants of Christianity have taught humankind humility, meekness, and tolerance like no other religion has.
The Jews crucified Jesus because He claimed to be God manifest in the flesh. Josephus, a jew, wrote of Christ's death and the Christian religion, and acknowledged Christ's contemporaries many times in his works with the same assumption of their existence as with Christ's. It is not just some story. Christ, the man, existed without any doubt. Not the same consequence disbelieving Christ's existence as disbelieving the Hobbit (which never claimed authenticity like Christ did). In other words it is not just a story.
Believing on Christ for salvation is a whole other matter. But to dispute His existence is either intellectual dishonesty or laziness, neither of which are excusable.
