This topic is really great because you can frame yourself as the more serious environmentalist while showing that their solutions are a joke and aren't serious at all about protecting the environment. Any counterargument essentially goes against the leftist religion.
The US has a couple options here:
We can spend billions, or possibly trillions on an "agreement" where no other country is contributing, where there are no restrictions on how the money is spent, and no consequences for breaking this agreement and failing to make one's country greener. Additionally, some big polluter countries are exempt from until 2030 because reasons.
Or we can try other things- Maybe a tariff on all countries which have dirty manufacturing. Maybe renegotiating Paris Accord so all countries need to do their part, and so there is accountability for failure, and to make no countries exempt. If you give other countries your money you should demand it be spent properly. If you disagree then you're not serious about protecting the environment. Trump tried to renegotiate but they refused(because the purpose of PA is to be a gravy train, not an actual solution).
The purpose is to show them that much better solutions exist, especially for this price, and any true environmentalist should be angry over this weak agreement. Paris Accord is an extremely expensive and poor attempt to solve a problem, and this failure will only backfire when well-regulated factories are regulated out of existence and leave the US and build in China or other countries where they can pollute as much as they want.
