Lineage OS is an open source operating system for Android phones. You can install it with or without google apps. I put Lineage OS 17.1 running Android 10 on my s5 (phones considerably faster with Lineage OS an no bloatware. I put Lineage OS 18.1 on my s7 running Android 11. Neither have google apps installed by default. You can use microG to install Android apps like Google Authenticator. Aurora Store to bypass Google Play Store. Osmand is an open source gps maps program to replace Google Maps (it's not nearly as user friendly an polished but will get you from point to point but you have to download each states maps. Lineage OS only has so many supported devices by default but the OS is open source and other devs work on versions for other devices an maintain it for donations. Really impressed with it so far. You have to be comfortable with rooting your phone, installing twrp recovery, an installing the OS. There are plenty of tutorials out there for how to do this and not all devices will have the same steps. It will require an external pc. I did have to download a bunch of gps programs until I found one that triggered my gps so Osmand maps would work. When I did a factory reset prior to installing Lineage OS I had to trigger the gps the first time with google maps before Osmand would work as well so i don't think that was unique with Lineage OS.
