Realistically, it makes sense that only people who own property (homes/land) should be able to vote. I don't own anything so even I would be excluded from voting. Why should people who don't own anything have the right to tell other people to pay higher property tax on something they've long since paid off?

To me, private prisons would seem to incentivize more arrests and stricter sentencing for low level crimes (drugs, petty theft). Those places have to fill the beds or they lose money. Look up the movie Kids For Cash. It's heart breaking.
