I have to agree, yes he is exploiting a loophole, you know what, you can't have a perfect world. Any free society is going to have people exploiting things around the edges. At least any solution I can think of is worse than the problem.

Yeah, I agree. I don't want to delete my current reddit account because the place, damnit, is useful for some things, and I don't think that would be so impactful anyway, even if we all did it.

I thing brigading is the way to go. I think for one thing repeatedly commenting on random things and saying "I would have upvoted this but I can't tell if this is approved content or not and I don't want to get in trouble. Can someone tell me if this thread was officially approved" would spred some awareness.....

I really love about 6 of his books or so. Of course he's written hundreds...I think he has written a handful of really great books, but his name was such a guaranteed seller everything he writes gets published, and yes a lot of it is really pedestrian.

Also his black characters are a cartoon view of what a isolated white liberal thinks of black people. They all either have magical powers or are innocent victims of the evil white establishment.

The thing with reddit for me is that it is, if nothing else, a good one stop shop for specialized knowledge. I can ask a question about pretty much any hobby or fixing any vehicle I have and get a pretty good answer. Outside of Stack Overflow for coding questions, I don't know any other site that does that as well.

I belong to one off forums for the cars and motorcycles I own, and I still often get better answers about working on them on reddit.

Of course those subs don't have much in the way of opinion, so they haven't been poisoned yet.
