Being good at higher level math is important to programming, but not always necessary. Both math and programming problems do share a theme of being able to think abstractly. However to be effective with abstraction, it must be logical and fit within the rules of a system or follow logically. Mathematical thinking is almost pure abstract thought. If I asked you to define the number 2, you could tell me what 2 objects are, or what makes something categorized or described by 2, but there is no real definition of 2 other than how you can calculate it, by using other abstractions (math) within the rules of the mathematical systems. This is kinda what I mean by how you think about problems being important. Thought must follow facts and truths to find conclusions, which develop into beliefs about the world. Giving your daughter the skills to think, and think well is the greatest gift you can give her.
I taught myself programming when I was 13. It has been the single best thing at developing logical thinking and problem solving skills that apply universally. What you think is important, but how you think and arrive at conclusions is more important. Do nothing but encourage and reward her for learning programming skills. These skills will apply to many other parts of her life and development. I am very happy for you and your daughter.
