Sorry for the late reply, meatspace is a helluva thing.

I'm making the point of -- well, what happens when there isn't funding or some quid pro quo attached? Like, it really does undermine the relationship between the state and the federal government.

Certain states can literally ignore federal laws and hinder federal agents in their jobs (INS, DHS) openly flaunting "sanctuary cities" but since we're post civil-war, states shouldn't be able to "pick and choose" which federal laws they're going to follow.

The US, population-wise, is very small. A province in China (that isn't Western China, aka Bumblefuck Nowhere) has roughly 1/10th the population (~30mil) of the US. Yet we're reaching a point with federal over-reach where we think as individuals we want states to have specific laws and if you don't like it, legislate it away or GTFO. I'm beginning to like this thought in terms of states rights and laws.

The goofy mags and handguards Californians with rifles must have, what is up with that? I was just sayin' that with how things are going, special rules exist for certain states to ignore certain federal laws and hinder federal agents doing lawful, constitutional shit whereas in other places. In others, unconstitutional shit is being basically thrust upon the population up on high from legislators from D.C... sounds vaguely like the EU with their ministers in Brussels.

Assuming election fraud has always taken place, moreso in local elections/less visible elections than primaries of POTUS, then, it really isn't that different from unelected EU burecrats determining how people in a far-away place whom they know nothing ought to live. By foisting legislation upon them. The gun stuff being the most eggregiously unconstitutional horseshit ever. Hiding illegal aliens being the second... you get the picture, I think.

What I don't understand if certain states and cities can ignore federal law/authority with "sanctuary citites" why in the hell, in any other situation, would other states simply follow federal authority?

Basically, the entire concept of "sancturary citites" and the people that have them undermine the relationship and power balance between all states and the federal government.

It is for this reason, places like Missouri should indeed say "Fuck your unconstitutional gun laws, we're not enforcing them" -- sancturary cities and states for 2A was at first a joke or a meme but if you follow through this to its end logical conclusion...

Greenies, they don't just want to protect the environment, they want to save the planet. With such grand delusions, they don't give a damn if a plethora of people lose their livelihoods and say something retarded like "learn how to code".

You think they're going to fret over some deaths?

Tell you what, if people like Bill Gates and others wanted to do real philantrophy, they'd form together and jointly build 4th gen nuclear plants, something on the face of it is risky because of ROI is high, super-regulated industry, and you have Big Oil which sounds like people in the affected areas of this storm are being royally screwed over (sounds like opportunistic price fixing). However, these people have no balls and besides, no pizza or hotdogs come from investing in a nuclear plant for everyone to have cheap energy.

And funnily enough, Adolf Hitler wasn't all that bad in context with some others you most certainly will never hear about in public education and even higher private education.

Almost like... it never happened. Figures that make Uncle Adolf look like, well, to quote a guy "the JV team" by magnitudes of actual quantifiable figures and metrics.

Because they think communist ideals are noble but historically their methods have been held in some vague sense of contempt.

Biggest gripe about the education system and growing up is hearing about "muh 6 bajillion" but never hearing a peep about the Holomodor, never hearing about the evils of communism.

Being very brief, these people think they're smarter than everyone else, that they can raise everyone up to a higher level, that corruption isn't a thing. They're stary-eyed dreamers who haven't the first clue how the world works, let alone how this has worked historically.

Apart of that has to do with the intelligensia of the time in the rest of the world thinking the same way. With the same sense of hubris. Orwell mentions such things in the foreword to Animal Farm and the trouble getting it published.

Oddly, in The Age of Information where one can research information very easily, go into any number of public libraries with books on the topic, or order inexpensive soft covers and have delivered to their door, they dare not. They're full of hubris, remember? Whatever their college professors said must be right. What's the point in looking into it? They learned about it in college. Ironic, if you think about what the word "professor" means. Also, maybe they thumbed through Marx or some works of Lenin. What else is there to know?

Fools.

Wrong. There are have been tons of people, spineless intelligensia, newly made libshits, etc... who loathe historically communist methods but praise their ideals. Which is bunk. On a small scale it is an argument of individuality vs. collectivism. Communism is not well intentioned. Dictatorship of the proletariat? It is a group of incompetents in a lower hierarchy that wants to sling-shot to the top of the pyramid. Through manipulation, blood, and fear. An army of shriveled bookkeepers, sub-par liberal arts students, and other leeches.

The late 19th/early 20th century myth and hubris that we know enough to raise everyone up to the same level is communist bullshit. They thought they understood social science so well that they could do this.

Group dynamics and collectives are important. Families, neighbors, villages, towns... but if those people need to have a choice in whom they associate.

However, it cannot be done at the scale the contemptible Marx, Lenin, Burkhin, et al have envisioned. Men are not ants. Damning communist methods but admiring their ideals is the first pitfall of the ideology as a whole. There is nothing noble about preying upon people's sense of altruism along with the other vectors of attack employed.

A lot of people who talked the way you do sat still while x's country civil war waged on. After it was won by the "red" faction, they hoped they could go with the flow, only to be grabbed up by the Cheka, GPU, or whatever that country calls their political police all the while asking "Why me? I have done nothing!" Well comrade, your existence has become inexpedient to the state. Power vaccums existing from within the secret police, the ideological commisars, the manager of the Food Trust... People intoxicated with power and blinded by it, gaming the system. Not to worry, they'll end up taken away like you were, sooner or later.

Read Solzhenitsyn, read Ayn Rand's "We The Living", read Orwell's Nineteen-Eighty Four as starting points. The threat does not have to come in a Soviet style, communist, red bolshivik form. It could easily be religious fundamentalists or some other type of ideological hodge podge.

Don't believe me? Take a look at all existing collectivist states that are communist/socialist or fundamentally religious. Also, take a look in the past of these types of states.

You want to help those in the lower rungs? That's what Welfare is for, except in the US, it is a broken system. It is purposely designed for you not to be able to get out of it. They make it difficult. I speak from personal experience,

Yes! They aren't bypassing Federal law, they're simply fortifying state law and state's rights. Nobody can be against laws and rights!

C'mon, man!

I'm not much into smartphones, mine sucks and is slow.

I see that Newpipe (YT very slimmed down front end without using official APIs) is in the F-Droid 'store' or app repo and screenshots indicate it allows downloading from YT. I often forget that a lot of people experience P.W or a lot of content exclusively via their smartphone (a legitimate bias! oooh, leftists, beware!) so, thank you!

Forgot about pip, but I have youtube-dl installed via distro pkg manager.

$ youtube-dl -U

works pretty well and looking at the repo on github, it even has chunk to make it work on Windows... for those unfortunate souls.

Yes, it's important to update youtube-dl (usually when it fails to download a video) because a site may change underlying implementation in a way purposely or non-purposely that youtube-dl won't be able to download the video.

Use youtube-dl to download videos to local storage before they get memory-holed. For you poor souls that are using Windows, no worries. The binary has the python interpreter built in. Can be used on a plethora of video websites besides youtube.

Seriously. Get youtube-dl.

It's funny, if you have the two or three Kung Flu shots, you still have to wear a mask.

Why would that be?

maybe 'blood atonement' will become apart of the law enforcement community... very loosely, 'blood atonement' is the mormon equivalent of 'jihad'.

With all the softball questions, why does she need to "circle back"?

As far as I can remember, Kayleigh "Binder of Doom" McEnany and Sarah Huckabee-Sanders never had to "circle back".

Has Psaki (Pe-Sah-Kee) ever circled back?

if the data is tsv or csv, I imagine doing this on linux shell (bash or whatever) along with awk and the other gnu utils would be pretty handy.

3
DixMcCoy 3 points ago +3 / -0

if there isn't an api then someone has to write a 'screen scrape' tool and extract the data that way.

a script or linux command line utilities

make a csv (or two), apply awk, grep, diff, uniq, et cetera skills...
