In all cities the Chief of Police reports directly to the Mayor.
There are three choices before the Mayor:
Resign, and take your contractual termination settlement and retire in comfort.
Any Democrat Mayor with a Democrat City Council can make a proclamation or policy, or Ordinance to completely control police behavior, and make any changes they think will appease the mobs.
Or just tell the police to stop the looting and burning, and publicly, with the Media present, announce this policy for the police " stop the looting and burning, do your best to preserve life, over the preservation of property, but use what you have to discourage a spread of this behavior. ALL LIVES MATTER.
It almost looks as though all these overwhelmingly Democrat controlled cities were able to bet against both sides and win. If these Mayors let the looters run wild, and proclaim a "summer of love". If the populace will rally behind this, the Mayor is re-elected. If the Mayor uses the police to stop the rioting and looting, and a few looters and rioters attacking the police with fire, bricks, frozen water bottles, etc., are shot by the police. Then it gets quiet and the crowds disperse. They are absent the following night, and those following. The majority of citizens now feel safe, and the re-elect the Mayor for his bold leadership.
They Mayor now executes the first strategy, if the second one didn't work...........or vice a versa.
The only way out is a MASSIVE Republican turnout in November.

It is becoming so obvious to anyone who cares to look, that this BLM has nothing to do with race or quality, or police violence against persons with dark skin (we all know the stats, but who cares about the facts anymore). These people are quite clever and prepared, using the Covid, Social Media, the "Press", and realizing how easily so many young people are bored and wanting some action to protest about something. A great post, but understated. The perp had, for many, a lethal level of Fentanyl in his system. That level of Fentanyl is associated with making a person stop breathing. Although, in all fairness, that may have been partially offset by the level of Methamphetamine present. He was also convicted of holding a gun to the abdomen of a pregnant woman while his friends ransacked her house to support all their drug habit. In another video, we see that for three minutes, three officers are unable to get him into the squad car. Ah, sigh......another "Gentle Giant".
One of the times that i wish i could upvote a gazillion times! Can you even imagine, after viewing the entire police video, what it was like for the officers to deal with this,.......without the perfection of 20/20 hindsight?
So, your partner and backup has a concussion, has been tazered, and is lagging behind you as you run after the subject, hoping to outrun him and bring in a criminal, you are on your own, and in the intense energy of the confrontation, you hear a shot - you don't know where your partner is, you don't know what weapons were secured by the person that just blew up in your face and assaulted you both, and is turning to point a weapon at you and you hear a shot. You are running, breathing heavily, recovering from an intense battle on the pavement. Do you suddenly become very calm, with no regard for your personal safety, and evaluate what is happening in a split second, and decide to ignore the threat?
C'mon folks, if you can even relate to this scenario, would you do whatever to try to save your life? Or would you stop to worry about how BLM might react to your actions?
So, let's imagine how differently it could have gone. Mr. Brooks fights off the officers, and escapes after grabbing both a 9mm handgun and a stun gun from the officers. In pursuit, the officer approaches, and Mr. Brooks shoots him with the tazer, the officer goes down immediately because he is not loaded with Fentanyl, meth or tequila,(not to disrespect the legacy of Geor FLOo)d autopsy report) then Mr. Brooks grabs the gun from the stunned officer, and shoots him in the head, and runs off. Mr. Brooks returns to his family (the children that he brutalized and went to jail for), and all is forgotten because after a second DUI, jail time, convictions for child brutalization, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, it is deternined by the DA that this is a clear case of police brutality and racism, first and foremost.
This first degree/death penalty charge will fail to ANY jury, and justice will be done. The video and rap sheet will be conclusive.
