Not a lawyer but my take on this is that Pence already has constitutional authority and his lawyers didn't want to be responsible for a precedent that allows future VPs to abuse their power. If he/his lawyers believe there will be a country and an office of VP to preserve after January 6th, I believe that is a good sign for us. Again, just my take and I am not a lawyer.
And people scrub social media for lots of reasons. My overall point is that not everyone that is MAGA now was so in 2016.
I understand your point; however, each person you listed is a traditional politician, even crazy Bernie. Trump, although president, is nowhere near a traditional politician. His approach turned everything upside down and lots of normal folks had no idea how to react to him, so they defaulted to the, "He's loud, vulgar, unpresidential, etc." Plenty of "traditional Republicans" were just like her but realized, over the course of his presidency, what Trump represents and have seen the light, knowing now there is no going back to the old ways.
