We use machines for provincial and municipal elections. Don't be fooled though I worked as a poll clerk people can let some ballots slide if they're filled out incorrectly for the right party however though don't have the same ability to sway an entire election like machines.

The difference is, its paper ballots. The only leeway is allowing a ballot to be counted that isn't filled out correctly. Those don't happen often, plus you can't destroy a ballot it will be found. If the race is close there's a recount, the incorrectly filled out ballots get thrown out.
Everything is counted by hand.
We also don't vote for the prime Minister like Americans vote for the president.
You vote for the party or local candidate. The party that wins the most seats wins the house.
Sometimes the prime Minister can lose in his own local race.
We have no electoral college so usually the election is over before they start counting in the west which sucks.
