Teslas have an optional PIN to drive mode where you have to enter in a PIN to drive it. You'd have to hack the computer to get it to drive, which is damn near impossible. I don't know why dealerships wouldn't just have all display cars set with a PIN. I have a Tesla and I'm pretty confident that nobody could steal my car. They could steal stuff out of it and smash it up, but they ain't getting the car.

From "Atlas Shrugged":

Dr. Ferris : People don’t want to think. And the deeper they get into trouble, the less they want to think. But by some sort of instinct they feel that they ought to and it makes them feel guilty. So they’ll bless and follow anyone who gives them a justification for not thinking. Anyone who makes a virtue, a highly intellectual virtue, out of what they know to be their sin, their weakness, and their guilt.

Dr. Stadler: And you propose to pander to that?

Dr. Ferris: That is the road to popularity.

An ironic thing is that Tesla and SpaceX don't require a degree to work there and they're probably the two most sought after employers for engineering students.

Meanwhile, I have a friend that quit working at a mattress factory because they said he needed a college degree to get promoted any more.

I think some people base a large part of their ego on their degree and don't want to see people without degrees succeed.

Saying Tesla receives taxpayer money is like AOC saying New York saved money by keeping Amazon out. Except the carbon credits, but that is just California.

The subsidy doesn't exist for Tesla in the U.S. anymore. Those are all tax subsidies anyway. You're original comment implied that Tesla was receiving money from tax payers. The way tax subsidies work is that the buyer of an electric car gets to pay less taxes. No taxpayer money goes to anything. Otherwise you could also say that people with no kids are subsidizing people with kids since kids are one of the biggest tax subsidies there are.

The original Tesla cars had AC motors and the most of the current cars have an AC motor in the front and a reluctance motor in the rear.

I think Michael Behe's "The Edge of Evolution" was excellent.

The European mortality rate for the first 11 weeks of this year has been lower than the last 3 years. Even in Italy. This should update for the 12th week in a few days.

That 1,750 figure is the average, but this time of year it should be even higher.

You might like this chart. The overall mortality rate for Europe for the first 11 weeks of this year is lower than the past 3 years. Even in Italy.
