To the community of Portland:

As a small-business owner in this community for more than a decade now, many folks out there can speak to my character, integrity and service to all. I can also speak to me just being a human – I’m just as flawed as everyone else.

My protest is protected under the same Constitution rights afforded to those who are demonstrating their agendas throughout this city on a nightly basis.

I could no longer stand back and be part of the silent majority. The relentless rioting, looting and violence in my neighborhood street has turned my community and this city into something I don’t even recognize anymore – a Portland divided. I’m simply tired. I’m tired of all of us being so focused on being right for the causes that we’re fighting for that we forget to focus on finding a sustainable solution that can heal our hearts and unite us as a whole.

The hatred, threats, doxxing and bullying that I have received as a result of my actions has been nothing short of horrific. But I have to respect their rights to express their views as I have to vocalize mine in order to move forward.

However, the amount of supportive and positive messages I have received from those that are just as tired as I am have been astounding. They are a hopeful sign that there is some of the former Portland I know and love out there.

I understand and respect that there are those out there that may choose to no longer support my business. I have to accept that and hope that each individual will make this choice for themselves based upon reflecting who I am and what I represent as a part of this community.

May we all consider laying down our pride, power and person in pursuit of unity.

I hope we can use this event to move forward and make this a better city for all of us.

Thank you.
