Ive believed for a while we are at the dawn of the next epoch in human history. The last great change being the Reformation in the 1500s. The combination of the printing press and religious disagreement set Europe on fire. It was the emergence of quick communication allowed by quick printing that caused european society to be at odds with one another.
Today we have the combination of the internet and computers in our pocket. Instant communication, not across a continent but the world. People are again at odds due to this, reason goes out the window and America burns. If history tells us anything its that new technology radically changes things. I think we are just beginning to see how.
I’ve struggled with this very question for years and I’m not sure it’s so simple. There is one Church yet many parts. There is one faith but different gifts. How do we reconcile it all?
14 For the body does not consist of one member but of many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? 18 But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. 19 If all were a single member, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts,[b] yet one body.
Its not just the pope. The deeper issues are still theological. The Catholic. Church has come along way in the last 500 years to acknowledge much of what the reformers believed but there are still deep fundamental differences. Given the trajectory of our world the church needs to find a way back together.
Some on here may not like it and thats fine. We can all make up our own minds. The state of our world causes many to ask tough questions. Tough questions have hard answers. I promise they don’t want you hearing this stuff in China.
“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.”
Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?
