We need it as a fail safe for future generations. If the constitution had been more literal, then in the 60s, 70s, and 80s we wouldn't have begun the slide into lawlessness that we have now, or it would have at least been slower.

☝it's this comment here. No matter how much Trump campaigned and how hard the Republicans in congress worked, it wouldn't have meant anything because the fix was already in and the Congressional Republicans didn't want to help Trump in court.
I remember trying to debate some of them on reddit. They think that corruption is having your family work for you, having world leaders stay at your property, "because it's trying to profit off the Presidency by making his properties look better," and being at a meeting of world leaders that Putin also happened to be at.
