There's probably like 400-500+ million different guns in private ownership. This country has a population of over 300 million. I strongly doubt that they will ever be able to confiscate all of those guns.

Beyond that there's just no way in hell there's enough people out there willing to put their lives at extreme risk trying to steal someone's guns door by door. They can abuse their control of our government to come up with whatever bullshit they want, but there are surely states who would ignore it as unconstitutional.
