Here is what i remember being obamas policy on Russia. After his line in the sand, or red line or whatever in Syria. He was in a standoff with Russia in m the brink of a proxy war. in typical obama negotiations, the russians took advantage of the situation and told the obama admin they would guarantee Asad disnt use weapons on his people. in exchange, the us would defund the eastern europe missle shield against russia. weeks months later russia annexed crimea from ukraine.
