This is the Lord's supper. The components are now no longer that of the old covenant as in the Passover meal, but now in the new covenant the bread and wine represent Jesus.
Transubstantiation is something else entirely. Jesus does not turn into bread and wine and become a propitiatory sacrifice. There is no way that the apostles understood this to mean that this was the literal transforming into the bread and blood by the original Greek.
Nowhere in the Greek original was it understood to mean anything akin to cannibalism or Jesus literally becoming the bread. What you practice is idol worship in treating bread as though it is literally Christ, and you even 'Adore' it.
As with so many things, Rome twists the meaning of the word in order to claim only she has the true body and blood of Christ. It's a great lie.
Jesus did not invent ''Transubstantiation', let alone a priest class to perform it - He condemned religion, which greatly angered the religious authorities of His day. The Mass you know today formed around 1215 AD. The True Presence, i.e., Jesus' presence, refers to Him being present with us when we gather in His name and commemorate His gift of love to us, who would otherwise be utterly damned.
Jesus is not inside that wafer. He's inside the saved sinner.
Getting back to James and Works - I'll tell you one more time. When we are in love do we just say it, or do we also show it? If we merely said, 'I am in love', but never showed it in the way we acted, wouldn't it be correct to say that there is really no love there?
So, when we are saved by Grace and praise Christ we don't just say it - we live it. We demonstrate it in how we live our lives. Get it.? That's what James was stressing, and rightly so. Get off your butt and live as one who is saved, and as one who appreciates what Jesus did! That is not to say that doing such works is the means of how you are saved. Works mean nothing unless they are the natural byproduct of being saved.
When we are judged - what do we bring to the table? Do we say to God, well Lord, I'm a sinner but I did do these good works, and I did go to confession, and go to Mass, and did many a penance.
Is that what transpires before you do your time in Purgatory?
That's so very untrue.
The truth is that we bring nothing to the table. Zip. Zilch. Nada. We do not participate in our own salvation in any way shape or form. Because nothing we do can be enough to atone for our sinful nature. Nothing even if we did good works all day long, everyday, until we died because a dirty hand cannot cleanse anything. We are dead in sin.
Our only hope is what Jesus did. He took God's wrath upon Himself for us, once, and for all, and He said, It Is Finished. If you believe that He did that for you, then you are saved. If you do not belief He did that, (forgave your sins once and for all), then you are not saved, because you still worship someone or something else; most often its a religion that we sinners cling to.

Passover is the blood of the lamb - Jesus Christ's blood, the perfect lamb of God. It has nothing to do with the RCC's medieval invention of transubstantiation. Jesus is not a wafer of bread. He is God incarnate who lived and died as a man to purchase out salvation.
