My dad is a landlord in California and yup. He's had people literally cut out the door frames and windows so you couldn't even lock the house. Cut the carpets into tiny squares. Dig up their brand new plants and re-plant them upside-down. Constantly try to sneak people into the home who aren't supposed to be there. Left a car engine at the bottom of a pool (someone has to get that thing out somehow). Of course they always do horrible paint jobs without permission, then you have to cover up their dark paint with a million coats.
They smash things, break things, and overall destroy everything that doesn't belong to them.
People think that landlords overcharge on rent. The easiest way to get a good deal on rent is:
- Don't have rent controls.
- Be a good tenant.
If you're a good tenant, trust me, any sane landlord wants to keep you around, because this guy's video is completely normal for a landlord. My dad gave good deals to several people who were long time renters for him and even gave work to a renter who does good jobs.
People in the OC need to start speaking up. I'm trying, and often I get people upvoting and such, but people are too scared to speak for themselves.
If they don't like it and you know many of them (which is great because you're going in knowing what side their on), start encouraging them to speak. They need to talk about opening schools, talk about the ridiculous mask mandates, opening businesses...
Hell, I know there's a black market for businesses right now. There are people who are open and letting people in via their back doors while pretending they're closed.
We all need to stop hiding.
That's not far from here! Glad to see it.
