I've had quite the gripe with an influx of Just a Flu Bros here on TD.win, which vastly contrasts to the attitude T_D had about the coronavirus back on Reddit. There prepping was encouraged, China was called out on their shit, and people were investigative in understanding and rationally thinking about where, when, and how this virus operates. Here, I've seen just the opposite - total misinformation. And why? Well, because, "the MSM and Democrats are hyping it up."
News flash, a man-made SARS variant does not give two flying fucks as to which party you are. From the articles pushing "it's just a flu bro" I'd argue the MSM is nowhere close to fearmongering levels that pedes here think it is.
I explained on /r/Wuhan_Flu that that community had been following the leaks from China since December 2019. /pol/ was also onboard as well. The information, censorship, fudged numbers, and let alone burning bodies were enough for us to decide, OK, prepping is a very good idea with so many unknowns and communist blackouts over this thing.
Two months later, the MSM finally gets the word and empty shelves abound, instantly zapped stocks of cleaning supplies, canned food, toilet paper, masks etc. We knew this was coming, but most pedes have only heard of this now for the first time, through the fucking MSM no less. So of course, T_D responds, "fear and panic, Democrat scare tactic!".
This time, we're wrong. We're not thinking logically. We're not critically thinking and digesting information. If anything, the patriots I've seen here are guilty of being the very partisan contrarians they accuse progs and the Left of being, and it makes me extremely disappointed. THIS was the community that delved into 4chan during the 2016 elections, consuming leaks and Hillary emails like candy - it was actually fun to dive in and find the bigger picture the MSM was hiding. What we currently know about COVID-2019:
Basic Reproductive Number: (Average) R0 of 4.7-7.0. Increasingly more studies have concluded that the earlier estimates of 4.0 and below are too conservative. 2 Manuscripts point towards and R0 between 4.5 and 7.0 (!). This is considerably more contagious than the 1918 Spanish flu, on Par with Smallpox, measles, mumps, rubella. Highly Reputable Source Los Alamos National Laboratory, Kyoto University, University of Georgia, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Up to 14 day contagious asymptomatic incubation period plus another 1-2 weeks of infection and post infection spreading. This totals to nearly 1 full month of potential infectious period per person. Considerably worse than the 1918 Spanish Flu.
Critical Illness / Fatality Rate: Government officials are now regularly citing that 20% of all infected will require hospitalization to survive. The true figures may be as high as 30%, according to Chinese Leak. Italy is now reporting that 10% of all infected require intensive ventilation and oxygen. Unfortunately, when hospitals become overwhelmed, most of those 10-30% will die. The official number is 3.4% death rate from the WHO. That's on par with the 1918 Spanish Flu. Thus, the best case scenario is an outcome on par with the Spanish Flu of 1918.
Symptoms and Course of Illness: Contagious, but not necessarily with fever for roughly 10 days (makes detection impossible). Tests are roughly 50% accurate, expensive, and limited. High chance of severe debilitating illness, leading to high rates of fatality (without hospitalization and weeks of ICU). Cytokine Storm, double bloody pneumonia, multiple organ failure. Compared to 2003 SARS, the progression of respiratory failure is much faster; lack of oxygen is more evident. 2019 Coronavirus is a severe form of ARDS - Acute respiratory distress syndrome. Double pneumonia and heart damage to infected patients. Lasting injury, even after recovering. Without hospitalization = high chance of death. With hospitalization fatality rates can still be 5-15%. Reports also indicate that it’s not possible to “self-heal” – meaning that without hospitalization death is highly likely. Overall – reports indicate that when this infection becomes severe (as much as 25% of the time), considerably more challenging to treat than SARS/MERS.
In severe cases, one cannot self-heal. Just “hope” you have oxygen and IV fluids. Without intensive care, mortality rate may as high as 10-25%.
Surface Contagion and viral survival: Survives for 9 days on surfaces! Many common disinfectants are ineffective (bleach, ammoniums, etc) with the exception of ethanols or isopropyls.
Virus spread from droplets, vomit, feces, flushing toilet with feces, and any oral/nasal/anal bodily fluids – working with patients results in very high rates of transmission to doctors and medical workers/family members/etc. RIP medical professionals.
Multiple opportunities for infection, even after “healing”. This makes containment relatively ineffective, and cements this virus as a member of our global community – as future infections, as is the case with the cold, or with the flu – will certainly happen. Immunity to COVID-19 only last as long as 4-6 months.
Thousands of flights continue to come and go - flights haven't stopped (still as of the 2nd week of March). Hundreds of cruise ships continue unabated on a global scale. It’s still perfectly possible to fly to China, get the virus, and travel back to any major metropolitan region. This was absurd a month ago - now it's, in my opinion, literally gross negligence on the behalf of all world governments to allow flights to continue.
Why COVID-19 is likely Permanent:
Reports indicate that 80%+ of those exposed to COVID-19 will get infected (for example, 80% of the religious organization in South Korea is infected). With an R0 value of 4.7-7.0 it's guaranteed this virus will spread to nearly every human on Earth. The 2-14 day (as high as 3 weeks !) asymptomatic period guarantees the spread, and makes it literally impossible to detect and stop outside of 100% lock-down quarantines. Even such quarantines are ineffective. Why? As soon as the quarantine is over, the virus will just start over again - it's not possible to eradicate COVID-19 - it's permanent. It'd be like trying to permanently eradicate the common cold. It's NOT POSSIBLE for a variety of reasons?
Immunity only lasts for up to 6 months - after that, re-infection is 100% possible.
R0 value extremely high - even a single person in a crowded factory, or subway will easily re-ignite Wuhan all over again - with a 6 month immunity, that means that even after quarantine, everyone who got that virus 6 months ago will get it again...and again.
Chronic debilitating illness is not outside of the realm of possibility. Reports indicate chronic lung damage, chronic fatigue, testicle damage, kidney damage, central nervous system effects, and possible immune system effects. Much of this information is still emerging.

What to Expect?
As of the 2nd week of March Supply chain disruptions are now influencing retailers, and this will continue to worsen as time moves forward. Considering that Milan and much of northern Italy is now in quarantine, it would be foolish not to prepare at least 1 months worth of food, water and supplies for your family at this point. If a wealthy city such as Milan can be quarantined, so can your city.
One of the most “economically dangerous” aspects of this virus is the length of the asymptomatic incubation period. The 1918 Spanish Flu had a roughly 4 day incubation period. COVID-2019 has a roughly 5-14 day incubation period. The situation in Wuhan demonstrates more than a full month of quarantine requirement is still not effective at containing this virus. The global economy cannot handle over a month long hiatus. Quarantines during the 1918 Spanish Flu were over in weeks, not months.
The R0 of the 1918 Spanish Flu was roughly 4.0 in confined areas. COVID-2019 has an R0 of roughly 4.7-7.0 in open cities in China. The Los Alamos National Laboratory indicates that Wuhan’s quarantine reduced the R0 of COVID-2019 to 3.0, which is still roughly double the R0 of the 1918 Spanish Flu under normal conditions.
Unfortunately, these facts still clearly point towards a virus increasingly capable of collapsing industrialized civilization.
