That's the only scenario that makes sense. He'd probably have a "massive stroke" and die, jettisoning whatever useful idiot they have as his VP pick into the presidency if they win.

You want to know the real reason why they hate Donald Trump so much, and why this sort of shit goes on and nobody makes a peep about it and will pretend it never happened?

They had almost 100% achieved totalitarian control of the country. The USA was on a crash course with disposing of the Constitution and becoming another authoritarian hellhole. Then Trump hits the scene, wins so many votes that they can't even make him lose while rigging the numbers, and takes the Presidency by storm.

They haven't stopped trying to take him down from the beginning because he wasn't part of the plan, and now the Wu Flu hysteria is their last ditch effort to regain control of the country and the populace. Joe Biden somehow seemed like their best bet, for reasons unknown to me as he seems like the worst choice possible, and they will do anything to get him elected and get rid of President Trump.

Watch your backs and keep your eyes open.

So you're cool with (probably unemployed) people being fined because they aren't as scared of this virus as you are?

I own face masks. It's no skin off my back. But that doesn't mean I want the police chasing down and fining people. I also think the lockdown itself is a terrible idea, and again - this is just another outgrowth of the hysteria.

EtheldredaTheUnready 2 points ago +3 / -1

It isn't even about the face masks - it's about the onerous $1000 fine should someone be found without one.

I haven't seen anyone acting a fool in public. No normal human beings are licking toilets or whatever the hell you are acting like is happening on a regular basis. This virus has not proven to be more deadly than the flu, and common-sense precautions are all that is necessary. This order is yet one more burden placed upon the public by power-hungry tyrants, and people are starting to get fed up.

In a nutshell: everyone is done with the lockdown and wants to act like we live in the USA again.

I fully agree. I am completely fed up with this tyrannical bullshit and am no longer biting my tongue or waiting things out. The more we put up with the more garbage they'll pile on top of us, the time has come for us all to quit complying with this crap and show others that they can do it too.

Hate to break it to you dude, but they've known you support Trump all along. We've getting spied on everywhere, there is basically no escape from it at this point until we as citizens decide we've had enough and force a change.

You're dead on. I'm going to just copy/paste a comment I made in another thread on this exact issue:

I come from a working-class family. Right now I'm renting in an area where it's one of the last small family homes in the middle of McMansions. The posts on Nextdoor are rage inducing, because these upper middle class Karens are bitching if they see two kids walking down the street together, or if the yard men they hire dare to step too close to each other while working on their yards. They also want the shutdown to last indefinitely.

Meanwhile, people who don't have the luxury of cushy jobs or a rich husband like my immediate family members are losing their jobs and scrambling to survive.

The lack of self-awareness, the ACTUAL "privilege" they have from their ivory towers being utterly insulated from the reality that people are living, makes me sick.

The more you learn the more you realize how little you know. The depth of human experience and knowledge is so expansive that it is impossible for any one person to come even close to learning everything they should. That's not even counting all the stuff humanity has yet to discover or learn.

Anyone who thinks they know it all is extremely full of themselves and willfully ignorant. This is part of why we work together as a society and a species - together we can fill in each other's knowledge gaps and question one another's points of view. When you start thinking you're better than others and refusing to listen to alternate viewpoints you are cutting your ability to learn off at the knees.

I have three immediate family members who have lost their jobs because they work in the tourism industry.

But nobody cares about the working class, so they're forgotten.

I think they're panic junkies. Modern life is so free of real problems that they leap on every issue as if it's the end of the world. It also gives all the Karens a chance to feel powerful, important, and enlightened while signaling their virtue to the world.

In b4 Cuomo is no longer allowed to make public comments by the media because he's "spreading misinformation"

SEND THOSE CHICKENS MY WAY!!!

I've been wanting to raise some chickens so badly... It's sad that so many are being senselessly killed. Best case scenario it may only be a matter of weeks before everything is open again, so why not wait and see if the demand comes back? They're just going to be scrambling to get more laying hens again once the restaurant industry gets rolling once more.

Houston is okay. It's like the gay mecca of the South and is pretty liberal, has giant sex shops prominently displayed on street corners, is extremely hot and humid, and is a cement jungle.

On the other hand, most of the people (locals who have been here a while) are really good folks, and there's a lot to do. It's conversely really religious, with several big churches and one of the largest Catholic communities in the USA.

It's a weird place and I'm not super fond of it, but I'd take it over Seattle or LA. I'm also just not a big city person so your mileage may vary.

I just saw this minutes ago and am glad to see it highlighted here! This is wonderful news, and has severely triggered all of the nervous idiots on social media here, it's great.

I don't know if anyone here heard much about his because it (of course) wasn't reported on widely, but in Harris County (Houston) we had droves of violent offenders released from jail due to Wu Flu fears, so the cops are pretty much over this shit at this point. Glad to see them standing up for themselves and siding with the citizens.

It would be ridiculously ironic if they actually tried to keep everyone locked up for the 4th of July, but at this point I wouldn't put it past them. I don't think anything the government does will shock me anymore.

These are people who can't function in normal society, so instead of working on their mental problems / neurosis they've decided to create a space where they can reinforce and encourage each other to get more disconnected from reality.

Obviously they're the prime candidates to lead us into a bold new future!

These people make me sick. Power tripping on snitching on people who are doing absolutely nothing wrong. This whole manufactured crisis has opened my eyes up to what human nature is really like.

I'm still an optimist, and I won't stop being kind, but I definitely will be much more watchful and careful around people that I don't know well.

Edit: Also, I forgot to add - one of our local Catholic churches was doing drive-through confession for people and some snitch got butthurt and called in the local news vultures, which caused that to be shut down. People really suck sometimes.

They're security blankets for the masses because the media and their masters in government can't afford to admit that they were wrong about how deadly this virus was and their reaction to it, so they have to keep the fear going for as long as possible so that nobody will question their seriously misguided actions.

2
EtheldredaTheUnready 2 points ago +2 / -0

I am actually worried that this is the direction that things will go if we as citizens don't stand up for ourselves. They're going to start shutting everything down every time a nasty strain of the flu comes around.

This is a really cute picture, and I'm so sorry that this poor woman's family was attacked. I wish them many long years of health and happiness.

Also, this is basically the "sour grapes" fable in modern life.
