Not sure i agree with this. Subordinate military personnel are required to salute and hold that position indefinitely until the superior officer either salutes in return (and subsequently lowers their hand) or passes them. Only then do they drop the salute and return to previous position of attention or at ease. It is never the case that the superior officer salutes first.
The only time this protocol is not held is during field exercises or other situations dictated by particular conditions set forth by their superiors, such as in wartime in a hostile environment.

A portion of your arsenal should be stowed away in a position known only to you. This location should preferably be somewhere that is infrequently visited by anyone, FAR offsite from your other arms. Either buried undergound or hanging up in the crook of branches high in a tree, the cache should be considered your ultimate backup should a commie neighbor, coworker, relative, or nosy acquaintance devide that you are a threat to the new world order if you live in a state with red flag laws.
I highly recommend a different location for each stash, in the event one gets compromised in some way. Place a rifle, pistol, and ammo at a minimum in each.
I'd be inclined to support a "peace officer," specifically one who is accountable for his actions and does not enjoy sovereign immunity. Part of that bargain is that he gets no special accommodations for his actions, no special dispensation such perks not enjoyed by every citizen. I would pay him handsomely, but he would understand that his paycheck, and possibly, his life, could be revoked for malfeasance under color if law. And he woukd not get the chance to investigate or absolve himself.
