I was buying my first new TV in over a decade and I wanted one made in America. Hard as hell to find. I actually found one that was "assembled" just a couple hours away. And it was available at Target. So I sucked it up and went to Target, the one maskless guy amongst probably 200 people. Asked for an Element brand (which I'd later find out was still mostly Chinese).
The guy was trying to upset me on some other TVs and I said, "Element is assembled a couple hours away, I want something made in America." Shit you not, he said "if it's made in America, it's gonna be lower quality but we can get it for you." Fucking honk. They probably thought I was insane standing there without a mask asking for made in America. Some random lady did walk by and say, "yes, buy American!"
Pretty disappointed when I got curious and did more research the next week and saw that Element is owned by a Chinese subsidiary, or something, I don't remember. Apparently they do that just to say "assembled in USA". But hey, they actually do assemble it just hours away so it's not completely bad, I guess, if it's employing someone in my state.
And yeah, I know, fuck TV. I watch chess videos and classic DVD, no streaming services or anything. First thing I did was uninstall that crap.
